NEWS ROUND UP
P&TG Lawn Tennis Club
I am so happy to be
able to write that we
should finish the year
with the courts open…
but in reality we have
all had to get used to
planning short term
this year haven’t we?!
Looking back on
2020, I really feel we
have been very lucky to have such a wonderful
facility as the tennis club in our village.
Once the first lockdown finished we provided
a much needed safe space for members to get
out into the fresh air and enjoy some socially
distanced exercise. It has been a wonderful
space to catch up with friends old and new.
With more people working from home this year
we have welcomed many more new members.
We are currently awaiting the contractors to
re-surface the 4th court to the same Tiger Turf
as the main 3 courts which should be done
before the New Year. Since the second
lockdown finished we are trying to complete
our internal club tournaments, and the Winter
Vets leagues will pick up again with a few
matches to reschedule. During the Christmas
Break we will run a few fun competitions.
The PTG Tennis Club wish all VV readers a
very happy holidays, and a healthy New Year.
NEW MEMBERS – We are still running the
reduced annual membership for just £69 per
adult and junior membership starting from
£17.25. Full price annual membership then
renews in April 2021. If you are interested in
joining us, or would like to get in touch please
visit our website at www.clubspark.lta.org.uk/

Village Voice December 2020/January 2021
P&TG Cricket Club
Sponsored by Argent Wealth Management.
The Cricket Club would like to wish everyone a
as Merry a Christmas as possible in 2020. Let’s
all hope that we can spend time with friends and
family in safety once again.
Looking back over the past 10 months, we
were fortunate that from mid-July, we were able
to play cricket in relatively normality. Yes there
were hand-sanitisation breaks, no changing
rooms and no communal teas so just playing at
was a considerable victory in the circumstances!
The Cricket Club has entered its annual state
of hibernation since those long Summer days.
The sight-screens have been returned to their
winter moorings at the bottom of the field, the
pitch-covers have been dismantled and the
square itself has been ‘put the bed’ ahead of its
reawakening in the Spring of 2021. What next
season has in store, nobody knows. But if a
similar pattern emerges again next year, the
advent of warmer weather and embedded
social-distancing habits will hopefully mean that
cricket can take place for most of the season.
Here at P&TGCC, we are proud to see a
healthy mix of players of all ages representing
our League teams and we will continue to work
hard with our 80-strong Colts section in the
hope that they will graduate into the League
teams when the opportunity arises. We are
always on the lookout for new players. If you
are new to the villages or perhaps used to play
cricket and looking for an opportunity to do so
again, we would be delighted to hear from you.
Off the field, the Club is in a decent financial
position and the August Bank Holiday 6-a-side
tournament enabled us to raise funds for Charity
too. We are lucky to have so many keen
volunteers that make all this possible. Please
keep an eye out for further events taking place
in 2021 as and when the pandemic allows, and
help the Club continue to make its contribution
to the community-life of our villages. To keep
