AROUND
THE VILLAGES
Christmas Fun in P&TG
We hope you will take part in the Christmas Fun
festivities which will be launched on Thursday
17th December at 7 pm. when the tree on the
common will be lit. Simultaneously, all
households are invited to 'Light up our Village'
and to 'Clap and make a noise' to celebrate
everyone in our community who has helped
others during these challenging times.See the
poster in the middle of VV for details
We are also thrilled that Father Christmas is
planning an early visit to P&TG on his sleigh,
and will travel around the village on three
evenings between 5.30 - 7 p.m. on 20th, 21st
and 22nd December. Look out for his sleigh as
he travels around the village - and do come
outside to wave (adults wearing masks and
ensuring any social distancing rules are adhered
to at all times) We hope the weather is good!
Christmas on the Common 2020
Yo Ho Ho and away we go. It’s time to adapt to
a different show... Sadly, and for reasons all too
familiar of late, our traditional Carols on the
Common will have to be cancelled this year. We
DEC 2013 - JIM HAWES WITH BEST DRIVER PAUL
FROM GORDON’S BUILDERS MERCHANTS
have painstakingly been through all “the rules“,
setting out The Common in a safely spaced grid
pattern, got our humble leader Brian safely up
on a stage along with Russel and his brass
blowers. Having done all this we thought we
had cracked it! Alas, audience singing is not
allowed, not much good for a Carol Service!
Then, to be inviting a gathering of more than 6
onto the Common (we would expect 250+) was
probably not the best idea given all the current
limitations! So that’s enough of the bad news.
The good news is that our traditional Christmas
tree will be in place as it is more than capable of
self Isolating! As all you good folk pass by over
the Christmas period we intend to occasionally
strike up some festive Carols for you to enjoy
and to get you into the festive mood. In true
Carols on the Common tradition, we would also
invite you to remember loved ones, past and
present in your quieter moments around the
Tree. Without our usual collection during the
concert we shall not be handing any donations
over to this year’s nominated charity, Bucks
Carers, a very apt charity during these times.
They do have a just giving page if you would
care to look them up or check out our notice
board, next to the Tree for more news. On
behalf of all the 1977 Jubilee Committee, Brian,
Muriel, Anne, Steve and myself, may we wish
you all a very Merry Christmas and... may all
your mince pies be... fruity! Bill Sadler
Tylers Green Village
Hall
Tylers Green Village Hall has
appointed Emma Byrne as its
new manager to replace Tina
Brown, who has retired after 20
years. Emma will be at the hall
every weekday morning
(although not during lockdown)
and is the person to contact for
bookings and other inquiries.
Sadly, the hall had to close its
doors again for the latest
lockdown but will reopen as soon
