FEED OUR FRIENDS Every week, Exit Zero Filling Station will deliver a family-sized meal (4 dishes of their choice) plus a bottle of wine or 4-pack of Cape May Brews (sodas if they’re teetotal) to a deserving cause. It’s called FEED OUR FRIENDS. Last Sunday, Owen O’Brien delivered a meal to Bill and Sue Causey of West Cape May. Bill owns the Antique Doorknob and Sue is a server at the Mad Batter. The Causeys were nominated by their friend Heather who thought the local couple could use a break after Bill recently broke his hip. The Causeys enjoyed a Chopper salad and cheeseburgers with peanut butter pie for dessert. Do you know someone who you’d like to nominate? It could be someone who has been a great volunteer and community servant, or someone who just needs a break. Dear Answer Lady I’ve been dating a woman for six months and plan to take her to the Lobster House for dinner on Valentine’s Day. I’m thinking of popping the question, but I have no ring yet. The problem is that she keeps bringing up her husband — he died about four years ago from a lengthy illness. I hate to sound uncaring, but I’m tired of hearing about the other guy. I’ve hinted that he’s seems to be on her mind a lot but isn’t taking the hint. Sometimes his name comes up at the most awkward times — if you know what I mean. Dear Answer Lady I have been friends with — let’s call her Jeannie — for 10 years. We walk together every day for an hour and meet for lunch or breakfast at George’s twice a week. The problem is she is incredibly negative. She hardly ever has anything nice to say about anyone, gets involved with all the wrong men and I listen for hours about her turmoil. I’ve been having my own problems and want to talk to her, but she doesn’t even give me the courtesy of finishing my sentence before she brings the subject back to her. I’m thinking about ending the friendship. I just can’t take the negativity. Do you think I’m overreacting? — On the Edge Dear Edge It sounds as though she is getting more out of the friendship than you are and that circumstances have awakened you to that fact. Why not take a break? Tell her you are unable to walk or go out for the next month while you work out issues going on in your own life. Then, resume in small increments.
