SIGNAL vs TELEGRAM<br />
I’ve been looking into this so here’s a<br />
summary.<br />
The problem with WhatsApp was,<br />
even though, your messages are endto-end<br />
encrypted (jumbled up so no<br />
one can read them), WhatsApp will<br />
still be able to see your messages in<br />
plain-text on their servers and share<br />
them with Facebook, or even worse<br />
interested government parties. This<br />
includes your health data.<br />
Example: You tell your friend you<br />
have a painful knee on WhatsApp,<br />
then you get on Facebook and see a<br />
knee brace advert from Wish.<br />

This app has endto-end<br />
encryption<br />
also, but just like WhatsApp, your<br />
texts and media are not encrypted<br />
on their servers. So they too can see<br />
your messages and leverage on them,<br />

I’m also extremely concerned about<br />
the “people near you” feature on the<br />
app, which shows you, EVERYONE,<br />
with Telegram within about a 5km<br />
radius around you. You can opt-out<br />
of this feature, They also have some<br />
other great features though like<br />
Channels and bots.<br />

encryption and they also worked<br />
hard to encrypt your meta-data at<br />
their servers. So even they can’t see<br />

my phone 3 seconds after I open it.<br />
CONCLUSION<br />
Telegram has some insane<br />
features. It’s really like WhatsApp<br />
on steroids. But if you’re leaving<br />
WhatsApp for 100% privacy, then<br />
you’re not getting it there.<br />
There’s no guarantee your<br />
government won’t weasel its way<br />
into their pants to get your texts.<br />
So Signal is our best bet, in terms<br />
of privacy. I mean, even Edward<br />
Snowden (the NSA whistleblower)<br />
uses it. If you don’t know who that<br />
is, then just trust me. I’m using<br />
anything that guy is using.<br />
