Date of public notice: Wednesday <strong>28</strong> <strong>April</strong> <strong>2021</strong><br />
<strong>Selwyn</strong> District Council invites further submissions on the Proposed <strong>Selwyn</strong> District Plan.<br />
Extension of further submission period<br />
On Monday 19 <strong>April</strong> <strong>2021</strong> <strong>Selwyn</strong> District Council publicly notified the Summary of Submissions on the Proposed <strong>Selwyn</strong> District<br />
Plan, and called for further submissions. On the second day of further submission period, the Council was made aware of an<br />
issue with the Excel document which was provided as an alternative, downloadable option to the online database ‘Summit Up’ to<br />
view the summary of submissions. As a result the Council is extending the submission period to 5pm Friday 7 May <strong>2021</strong>.<br />
About further submissions<br />
<strong>Selwyn</strong> District Council has prepared a summary of submissions on the Proposed <strong>Selwyn</strong> District which is ready to view together<br />
with full copies of the submissions, on the Council’s website at www.selwyn.govt.nz/districtplanreview. You can also view this<br />
information online at Council libraries and service centres.<br />
The further submission consultation is an opportunity for affected parties, people with certain interests, and local authorities to<br />
comment in support of or opposition to the original submissions received. A further submission consultation is not a call for new<br />
submission points and topics. A further submission can only be made on an original submission or submission point.<br />
Who can make a further submission?<br />
The following persons may make a further submission:<br />
· A person who has an interest greater than the public in general.<br />
· A person representing a relevant aspect of the public interest.<br />
· The local authority.<br />
How to make a submission<br />
Further submissions can be made by using one of the following options:<br />
· Complete an online submission form at www.selwyn.govt.nz/dprsubmission.<br />
· Download a PDF submission form at www.selwyn.govt.nz/districtplanreview and:<br />
- email it to dprsubmissions@selwyn.govt.nz (Subject line: Proposed <strong>Selwyn</strong> District Plan Further Submission)<br />
- post it to <strong>Selwyn</strong> District Council, Freepost 104 653, PO Box 90, Rolleston 7643, Attention: Proposed <strong>Selwyn</strong> District Plan<br />
Further Submission<br />
- deliver it to a Council service centre in Darfield, Lincoln, Leeston or Rolleston.<br />
· Pick up a hard copy submission form at Council libraries and service centres.<br />
Written further submissions must be submitted on the Council submission form, or on Form 6 of the Resource Management Act<br />
1991. Your submission must state whether you want to present your views at a Council hearing.<br />
The closing date for further submissions is 5pm on Friday 7 May <strong>2021</strong>.<br />
Any person who lodges a further submission with Council must, within five working days of doing so, serve a copy of the further<br />
submission on the person(s) who made the original submission(s).<br />
What happens next?<br />
After the further submissions period closes:<br />
· When we have received all further submissions, we will consider all the submissions in detail and produce a series of Officer<br />
Reports with recommendations regarding the submission points made.<br />
· If requested by any submitter, we will hold a public hearing on the submissions received. At these hearings a panel of accredited<br />
commissioners will consider all submissions, Officer Report recommendations and any supporting evidence.<br />
· Following the hearing we will give notice of our decision on the Proposed District Plan (and matters raised in submissions,<br />
including our reasons for accepting or rejecting submissions).<br />
· Every submitter then has the right to appeal the decision on the Proposed District Plan to the Environment Court.<br />
