annual sales volume performance<br />

in the history of the brand, driven<br />

largely by a brand record of over 500<br />

members globally.<br />

Global Growth<br />

<strong>The</strong> <strong>Luxury</strong> <strong>Network</strong> <strong>International</strong> ®<br />

brand reported growth across its<br />

global network offices, which now<br />

encompasses nearly 30 countries<br />

and territories worldwide. Before the<br />

year 2017 ended, the elite network<br />

launched in Egypt and Lebanon.<br />

Already in 1858 Madame Pommery very aptly noted that a<br />

glass of cooled champagne is the highlight of any given moment.<br />

La qualité d‘abord! 160 years later we are still working<br />

on her idea of quality and taste and continue with the Pommery<br />

way of indulgence and innovation.<br />

To clear our way towards refinement and perfection,<br />

Pommery has appointed a new chef de cave for the champagne<br />

house from Reims who has already overseen the<br />

maison’s 2017 harvest. Clément Pierlot is the maison’s<br />

10th winemaker and takes over from Thierry Gasco, who<br />

now directs Pommery’s sparkling winemaking in California,<br />

England and the South of France. Pierlot has been a<br />

vineyard director at the Vranken-Pommery Monopole<br />

since 2004, joining the company at the age of 24. Due to<br />

Clément’s daily involvement with wine development and<br />

his proven environmental commitment, it was certain for<br />

Paul-François Vranken that he was a natural choice to become<br />

the 10th cellar director for Champagne Pommery.<br />

Indeed, 2004 was a decisive year for Pommery – regarding<br />

our future development and our development in taste. So<br />

Pommery has taken the unusual step to also create a brut<br />

nature version of the Cuvée Louise 2004. <strong>The</strong> second Cuvée<br />

Louise to be released from that year, this version of the<br />

house’s prestige line has no sugar added at all rather than<br />

the usual low dosage. It has been singled out as one of the<br />

best vintages of the decade and, according to winemaker<br />

Thierry Gasco, having no sugar dosage accentuates the linear<br />

freshness and chalky intensity of the wine which makes<br />

it a natural partner for the iodine saltiness of Belon oysters<br />

or razor clams.<br />

In the tradition of Pommery Nature 1874, Cuvée Louise<br />

is the only cuvée with so little sugar or no sugar at all,<br />

respectively. Thus the wine embodies exceptional purity.<br />

Behind this apparent simplicity, however, there are unique<br />

processes tended to at each stage of the wine’s elaboration<br />

that ensure that Cuvée Louise is the quintessence of the inhouse<br />

style. It is an elegant, mature wine, featuring flavours<br />

of roasted almonds as well as fruit. Full of minerals, thanks<br />

to their high concentration in chardonnay, this ripe wine is<br />

very ready to drink. So Madame Pommery has set the stage<br />

for a unique idea of champagne. By means of this new Cuvée<br />

Louise Pommery has added the choice of sans dosage to the<br />

mix to take the tasting experience of all champagne lovers<br />

even further.<br />

Pommery‘s prestigious champagne Cuvée Louise is named<br />

after Madame Pommery, who took over the company when<br />

was first created in 1979 and, just as Madame Pommery<br />

would have demanded, is a product of the very best plots in<br />

the Pommery vineyards that are reserved specifically for this<br />

prestigious cuvée. “We source the grapes from three Grand<br />

Cru vineyards in Champagne, with citrusy freshness and intensity<br />

of chardonnay from Avize and Cramant, and the power<br />

and structure of pinot noir from Aÿ,” explains Clément<br />

Pierlot, Pommery’s wine maker.<br />

Classically trained in industrial design<br />

before becoming a professional<br />

photographer, Romer innately<br />

knows the influence of the golden<br />

ratio on his art however admits that<br />

he doesn’t try to have it looking too<br />

What he’s after is stunning contrasts<br />

of light and textures on the ground.<br />

“I’d rather put the camera further<br />

down than what you would normally<br />

do and shoot towards the horizon.<br />

<strong>The</strong> lower the sun, the more<br />

dramatic the outcome” he says.<br />

<strong>The</strong> depth and expanse of the final<br />

result, even in some cases when he<br />

only had 30 seconds of light leaves<br />

many asking “is that a painting or a<br />

real photo?”<br />

“You push your luck a lot” Romer<br />

says admitting sometime sit works,<br />

big intense skies and extraordinary<br />

sights produced by Mother<br />

Nature that most people only dream<br />

Many of his shoot locations are true<br />

wild territories. Like the Mt Aspiring<br />

area, home to interconnecting<br />

glaciers in New Zealand’s Southern<br />

Lakes doesn’t even have a hiking<br />

track or single road.<br />

that nobody has been yet, I think<br />

that is very special and something<br />

you hardly get on this planet especially<br />

these days.”<br />

for their traditional New Year Kick-off<br />

Event, enjoying some inspirational highlights.<br />

<strong>The</strong> hospitable Kameha Suite Frankfurt acted as a<br />

co-host and greeted all fellow network partners for<br />

the third time in their palatial villa. This TLN member<br />

always offers with its unique venue and prestigious<br />

environment the perfect set-up for a successful<br />

meeting.<br />

On this year’s prelude of the agenda the reputable<br />

keynote speaker Bert Ohnemüller gave inspiring<br />

insight views to his long-standing findings and experiences<br />

of the technical term “Neuromerchandising“.<br />

<strong>The</strong> author of LEAD – SPEAK – INSPIRE, Coach,<br />

Consultant of several enterprises and Lecturer at<br />

various universities in Germany and abroad fully<br />

captured his audience by showing new perspectives<br />

of the topic “Emotion – How to deal with other humans<br />

and your own self”.<br />

During the subsequent workshop all creative<br />

thoughts and ideas had been amalgamated into<br />

concrete new affinity projects. This secures a solid<br />

professional tool for all members to pursue their exciting<br />

On Friday, the 12th of January, True North<br />

Adventure Cruises invited guests and<br />

Australia on-board their True North cruise boat.<br />

Bird in Hand, Kanga Corporate Charters, Mike<br />

Annese Photography and 2KW’s <strong>The</strong> Pontoon<br />

supported the stylish event.<br />

Torrens then transferred by Kanga’s Signature<br />

Series Supercoach to True North in the Flinders<br />

As the sun set, guests were transported back to<br />

On February 2nd, 2KW Restaurant & Bar presented<br />

the exciting new SuperFoiler Grand<br />

Prix event with <strong>The</strong> <strong>Luxury</strong> <strong>Network</strong> South<br />

Australia members and guests with supporting<br />

brands Bird in Hand, Kanga Corporate Charters and<br />

Mike Annese Photography.<br />

Guests were transferred from the iconic Adelaide<br />

rooftop to the Royal South Australian Yacht Squadron<br />

onboard Kanga’s Signature Series Supercoach,<br />

equipped with a Bird in Hand wine bar. Mike Annese<br />

Photography was on board to capture the international<br />

sailing experience.<br />

Viewing the race from the elite ‘Strictly Business’<br />

yacht, guests were greeted with an impressive array<br />

food and beverages while enjoying the high-speed catamaran<br />

racing. When the racing concluded the guests<br />

were transported back to 2KW’s rooftop in style.<br />

<strong>International</strong> dignitaries from diplomacy, business<br />

and society got together in the time-honored<br />

halls of the prestigious Frankfurt Grandhotel<br />

Hessischer Hof for the glamorous Diplomatic<br />

Council Gala 2018. This year`s gala served as the<br />

global meeting point, not only for the European,<br />

but also for the valued members traveling from the<br />

USA and Asia. <strong>The</strong> Grandhotel Hessischer Hof itself<br />

joined the Diplomatic Council four years ago<br />

as a member and has ever since hosted the DC gala<br />

providing the ideal setting for a fabulous and magnificent<br />

celebration.<br />

For the first time, the Diplomatic Council is delighted<br />

to welcome a German Ambassador, namely<br />

H.E. Ambassador Dr. Heinrich Kreft, to the Diplomatic<br />

Council Board of Presidents. <strong>The</strong> newly appointed<br />

president delivered a speech on how diplomacy<br />

and business interact for the benefit of the<br />

community and society. He was much applauded<br />

<strong>The</strong> Diplomatic Council`s Educational Sponsorship<br />

program initiated by Secretary General Hang<br />

Nguyen reflects the spirit of the Diplomatic Council<br />

that everyone can make a contribution to better<br />

that the weakest and most helpless members of<br />

society - our children - need the highest attention.<br />

and Annette Habermann have become the first<br />

godparents for a girl and a boy in Sri Lanka and will<br />

finance the studies of these two orphans. Members<br />

who also wish to support vocational trainings<br />

or studies of orphans are welcome to contact the<br />

On parting, all guests received two gifts: their souvenir<br />

photos professionally taken in front of the<br />

photo wall with DC dignitaries and a farewell bag<br />

with TwentyFourSeven Cosmetics sponsored by<br />

DC Business Ambassador Sascha Zilger.<br />

Brockmeyer. He further<br />

London Boat Show 2018:<br />

<strong>The</strong> Value of Collaboration Between <strong>Luxury</strong> Brands<br />

<strong>The</strong> world-famous London Boat Show welcomed<br />

347 exhibitors and boasted 65 boat and<br />

product launches in mid January. <strong>The</strong> <strong>Luxury</strong><br />

<strong>Network</strong> Members, Sunseeker London, partnered<br />

with a fellow member, award winning Interior Design<br />

House Alexander James Interiors who ‘enriched<br />

their strong display of stunning Sunseeker boats<br />

with their luxurious touch.’<br />

Christopher Head, Sales Director of Sunseeker London,<br />

went on to say ‘it is so important that we have<br />

these strong brand partnerships. Boat Shows are<br />

some of the most important dates in our calendar,<br />

and during that time we need to showcase everything<br />

we do to the nth degree. AJI’s design team are<br />

fabulous at understanding what works on our boats.<br />

<strong>The</strong>ir attention to detail and flare means they get it<br />

right every time.”<br />

Other luxury brands that participated in the collaboration<br />

with Sunseeker London to enhance the<br />

Sunseeker experience included; Jo Malone, Fleurs<br />

De Paris, Boodles, Chase Distillery, and luxury<br />

French champagne house Laurent Perrier.<br />

Sunseeker also opened up their event to <strong>Luxury</strong><br />

<strong>Network</strong> members, as a way for members to have a<br />

further understanding of Sunseeker as a company<br />

and to further realise ways in which to collaborate.<br />

It proved to be a successful way that other members<br />

could also bring their clients too.<br />

Breakfast Briefing<br />

New member, Iberostar, hosted an interactive<br />

breakfast briefing for <strong>The</strong> <strong>Luxury</strong> <strong>Network</strong><br />

UK members for the launch of their<br />

new 5-star property: Grand Portals Nous – Mallorca.<br />

Commercial Director, Geraldine Gomboshaw,<br />

presented the new property that is launching next<br />

month. Attendees were able to see and hear what<br />

the impressive hotel will have on offer. It provided<br />

an opportunity to discuss potential partnership<br />

opportunities with the Iberostar luxury group. It<br />

proved to be a successful event as every member<br />

that attended was eager to work with Iberostar<br />

and found ways in which they could collaborate.<br />

<strong>The</strong> <strong>Luxury</strong> <strong>Network</strong> will host an event in summer<br />

at the Grand Portals Nous- Mallorca, in order to<br />

enable members to truly witness the experience<br />

that the hotel offers. <strong>The</strong> event was hosted at fellow<br />

member, 3 St. James’s Square’s, venue illustrating<br />

the multiple ways that members can work<br />
