DID YOU KNOW?
by AVISO EIA – the Insurance Partner of the NSW Taxi Council
FORWARD FACING CAMERA
By installing a dashcam/forward facing camera in your Taxi, you could be entitled to a premium
reduction on your Taxi Insurance. It will also make it quicker and easier to obtain a liability
determination in the event of a vehicle accident claim.
PREFERRED REPAIR NETWORK
By selecting to utilise the Insurer’s “preferred repairer network” on your motor vehicle Insurance Policy,
you could receive a discount on your Taxi Insurance premium.
T & TC PLATES
In NSW if your Taxi has a ‘T’ plate number compared to a ‘TC’ plate number and you only operate in
Regional (non-metro) areas, you will still be subject to the higher metro premium on your CTP Insurance
as per the government regulated rating requirements.
ADMITTING LIABILITY
In the event of a claim, never admit liability for a claim against you, even if you think you are at fault. To
do so could result in the Insurer reducing or denying your claim. You should always allow the Insurer to
make a liability determination based on the evidence provided.
REPORT DAMAGES
You should always report malicious damage, vandalism or theft of your Taxi to the police and obtain a
police report or report # to ensure the claim goes smoothly, as this is a requirement when lodging a claim.
COMPREHENSIVE VS THIRD PARTY PROPERTY DAMAGE
Comprehensive Insurance generally lives up to its name. It’ll cover you for a wide range of damage
caused by an insured event like an accident, theft and weather events (think hail, fire and storms,
including cyclones). It also has your back if you cause any damage to someone else’s car and
property. Third Party Property Damage Insurance, on the other hand, only covers damage to another
person’s vehicle and property.
