HOOPS
BRISTOL CITY
OPPOSITION
OVERVIEW
O P P O S I T I O N O V E R V I E W
Bristol is famously the only major city in England never to
have had a Premier League football club.
However, with some big investment both on and off the pitch,
the Robins from Ashton Gate will be looking to right that
wrong sooner rather than later.
Struggles throughout the early 1980s left City in the fourth
division of English football before a resurgence the following
decade. The Robins then yo-yoed between tiers two and
three but have now remained at this level since 2015/16.
Redevelopment of their iconic ground has left City with a
stadium fit for top-flight football and, boasted by a squad
filled with talent, the Robins could be ones to watch this term.
That said, City have started the current campaign somewhat
inconsistently and will need to find their feet sooner rather
than later in order to mount a promotion push come May.
