HOOPS
from the game and look to bounce back
this afternoon to hopefully start another
unbeaten run.
As fans will know we launched our very
popular Forever R’s a few seasons ago
where we look to recognise and really
appreciate the contribution made by
former players, coaches, and managers
to our great club. Obviously due to the
pandemic and having no fans in the
stadiums we haven’t been able to do
any inductions over the past 18 months.
However, it’s something we’re looking
to restart soon. We’ve inducted more
than 100 former players in the past five
seasons which is something we’re very
proud of as a club. It’s you, the fans, that
make it so special with the support, love,
and appreciation you show when the
players and their families return to the
stadium. Thank you for that tremendous
backing.
Former players and their families are
always welcome at QPR, and we’ve had
many at games since fans were allowed
back. I just want to mention that today
we have a true QPR great and legend in
Phil Parkes at the match together with
family and friends. Phil was part of that
incredible team here in the 70s. What a
fantastic goalkeeper he was.
Phil has already been inducted into the
Forever R’s, but it will be great to see him
here once again and I’m sure he’ll get
a wonderful reception if we’re able to
introduce him on the pitch at half-time.
It was also great to catch up with Jamie
Mackie on the QPR Loftcast on Thursday.
Jamie served the club really well and is
very highly thought of at Rangers. We
discussed football in general, all things
QPR and his transition from player to
retirement which can be difficult, as I can
personally vouch for. Again, throughout
the season, The Loftcast will be looking
to have former players join us. With that
and Forever R’s, it just strengthens the
link with ex-players who’ve represented
this club so well.
Thank you as always for your wonderful
support. Enjoy the game.
Come on you R’s!
