Strong first game win for Leeston-Southbridge
LEESTON-Southbridge
launched their Canterbury
country cricket one-day
campaign in style, opener
Brayden Hill leading from the
front with a match-defining
century against Cheviot.
Hill’s classy 104 from 127
balls set up the home side’s impregnable
268/4 at Leeston Park
on Saturday, although Cheviot
made a decent fist of the chase
before falling 27 runs short.
Leeston-Southbridge had the
bye for round one but Hill and

as they posted 164 for the first
wicket.

THE LINCOLN Bowling Club
is opening its greens to anyone
wanting to have a go at the sport.
Every Monday through to Christmas,
from 3-7pm, people can turn
up for a roll up and also get coaching
from Denis Smith, Lyndsey
Withell and Maurice Phiskie.
“There is no set time to start on a
Monday, you don’t need to come as
a team we will do that for you, just
rock up and play,” Smith said.
Mondays will be open to anyone
in the community. The first night is
free and after that $5 for non-club
members.
Bowls are available and flat sole
footwear is recommended. The bar
will be open with food available,”
Smith said.

jubilee celebrations planned for

Covid restrictions.

Wednesday mornings and men’s
on Thursday afternoons during the
summer season along with club
events at the weekends.

Darfield made it two wins
from two games in a solid sixwicket
home win against Ohoka.
Ohoka were rolled for 143
in 36 overs, with Daniel Lyons
top-scoring with 46 and Zak and
Liam Foulkes taking five wickets
between them.
Zak Foulkes then steered the
competition leaders home with a
superb unbeaten 60. Lincoln had
the bye.
