Saint Francis’ devotion to God was expressed through his love for all of God’s creation. He cared for the poor and sick, preached sermons to animals, and praised all creatures as brothers and sisters under God. NOVEMBER 18, 2021 to the editor to the editor I’d like to thank everyone who participated in our Veterans Day celebration on Thursday, Nov. 11. Thank you to Lynnfield’s town administrator, Rob Dolan, members of the Select Board, especially Chairman Dick Dalton, and guest speaker retired Colonel Joe Connell, State Representative Brad Jones, State Senator Brendan Crighton, Lynnfield’s American Legion Post 131 Firing Squad, and Rev. Rob Bacon of St. to the editor Mr. Ogren’s letter of 10-21-21 expressed genuine concern by the threat to our individual liberties by those on the left by the current administration. Our freedoms continue to be eroded as the critical race theory supporters, along with organizations such as ANTIFA and BLM, aim to reduce our liberties with their own insistence on how we should live our lives. Our Veterans Group will meet on Thursday, Dec. 2 at LETTERS TO THE EDITOR Veterans Day through the eyes of a veteran Seniors Thank you to the town of Lynnfield for a very respectful veteran day ceremony. The ceremony was held on the historic Lynnfield Common and was conducted by the Veterans Services Officer Bruce Siegel. In addition to the political figures that attended, the young Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, and their families were there. The preceding week, spearheaded by Kate DePrizio, a member of the Lynnfield School Committee, the 3rd-grade Girl Scout Troop #67136 and 1st-grade Girl Scout Troop #83618, in addition to Boy Scouts, troop leaders, parents and caring Lynnfield residents hand delivered to each veteran a beautiful poem and a $25 gift card. It was very important for veterans and their families to see this response from the Lynnfield community. We are all raised as young people by our parents and our teachers to care about each other and to avoid conflict. Unfortunately, we still do have conflict in the world and American men and women are asked to defend the country they love. Children should be aware that Paul’s Episcopal Church. Thank you to the high school and middle school bands, Lynnfield’s first responders, and the Lynnfield Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts. Thanks to the DPW for the presentation of the Town Common, and thank you to the Lynnfield Girl Scout Daisy Troop, along with their sister Girl Scout Troop for their singing of God Bless America. A special thanks to my wife, Candy, for helping to set up the luncheon, for taking some great photographs, and for her being able to make our own medical decisions. What should be of particular concern to us on both sides of the political aisle is the response by Mr. Ellerin’s letter of 10-28-21 claiming that Mr. Ogren “is a little too concerned about his own freedom of choice” and his “age-old, tired argument about the articles of the constitution.” Shouldn’t we always be concerned about our freedoms? Martin SOLD Lynnfield Library on the hunt for a new director By haNNah ChadWiCk The Library Director Search Committee is still on the hunt for a long-term director to replace interim Director Jennifer Inglis. The committee is currently deliberating between two library-staffing agencies; once a contract is secured with one of them, the real search will begin. On Nov. 3 the committee spoke with Amanda Fauver, a manager with Bibliotemps, an employment service of the Massachusetts Library System that recruits library workers for short- to long-term placements. Fauver informed the committee how the hiring process would work and what the job market currently looks like in the midst of the pandemic. “We are looking for the best candidate we can get to fit this library and the functions on what we can do and where we are going in the long term.” said Committee Co-Chair Richard Mazzola. “It is not a matter of filling the job… we are looking for someone who fits us as a culture, and understands division, and knows how to get us from point A to point C.” A library director is a chief administrator of the library under the direction of the Town Manager and Board of Trustees. The responsibility of a director is seen in all aspects of the library’s operations, including maintenance of the facility and staff supervision. Fauver also explained how the demand for library directors is extremely high since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. According to Fauver, there are five other nearby communities also looking for a director. Fauver shared with the committee her beliefs on why Biblotemps would be the best agency to help the Lynnfield Library through this process. “The fees that you are going to pay and have us help with the search goes back in services that your library is already using,” Fauver said. “So that money we are collecting from you is going to support statewide delivery, help pay for e-books for kids and schools, so those are all good reasons to use bibliotemps.” Community Paradigm Associates, LLC. is the next contender for the library’s contract. Bernard Lynch represented Community Paradigm at a Library Director Search Committee Meeting Tuesday night. Lynch, the founder of Community Paradigm Associates, has helped guide cities and towns toward success and efficacy for over 30 years.
