There is aLove Tennis event on at the<br />
<strong>Ashburton</strong> Trust Tennis Centre this Sunday.<br />
Running from 1pm until 4pm, new players,<br />
current players and players of all ages are<br />
welcome to come along.<br />
There will be activities, spot prizes, a<br />
barbecue and fun games.<br />
There will also be information on social<br />
and competitive tennis, coaching, the Hot<br />
Shots programme and local clubs.<br />
All equipment, including rackets, is<br />
provided.<br />
Tennis centre coach Jack Tiller said the<br />
open day was about having fun, giving the<br />
game agoand hopefully ‘‘falling in love’’ with<br />
tennis.<br />
Similar events are being held over the<br />
weekend at more than 120 clubs around the<br />
country to promote the game and anew<br />
season ahead.<br />
Allenton Cricket Club Four Seasons Treecare Williamson grade<br />
bowler Jack Hislop put up agood performance in his side’s win over<br />
club rivals Allenton Mainland Wool during Williamson grade club play<br />
last week at the <strong>Ashburton</strong> Domain. Hislop’s side scored <strong>18</strong>3/7 after<br />
25 overs; compared to their opponents 159/15. Hislop took one<br />
wicket for eight runs off his three overs.
