Academic Advisement<br />
SOCAD-2, SOCNAV-2, SOCCOAST-2, SOCMAR-2,<br />
SOCAD-4, SOCNAV-4, SOCCOAST-4, and SOCMAR-4<br />
agreements will be issued to students after they have paid the<br />
Application Fee, completed at least six semester hours of <strong>UMUC</strong><br />
course work, and requested an Official Evaluation. Students<br />
should note that the minimum number of semester hours needed<br />
with Maryland to earn a Maryland degree is 15 s.h. for the associate<br />
and 30 s.h. for the baccalaureate. To earn either degree, students<br />
must maintain a grade point average of 2.0 (C) or better in <strong>UMUC</strong><br />
courses and satisfy minimum <strong>UMUC</strong> degree requirements. Family<br />
members may also apply for SOCAD-2, SOCNAV-2,<br />
SOCCOAST-2, SOCMAR-2, SOCAD-4, SOCNAV-4,<br />
SOCCOAST-4, and SOCMAR-4 agreements.<br />
<strong>UMUC</strong> participates in the SOCED program designed to help<br />
members of the military community prepare for eventual careers<br />
in secondary-level teaching. <strong>UMUC</strong> also participates in the new<br />
SOC Degree Builder program which helps servicemembers in<br />
various MOS/NER career paths plot their degree progress.<br />
