Requirements for the Minor<br />
A minor in sociology requires the completion of 15 semester hours<br />
of coursework in sociology, drawn from various disciplines as<br />
appropriate; at least 9 semester hours must be earned in courses<br />
numbered 300 or above. Specific course requirements are listed<br />
below. If a specific course required for the minor is taken instead<br />
to satisfy the requirements in the student’s major, another course<br />
in the same discipline should be substituted to fulfill the required<br />
minimum number of semester hours for the minor. Any course<br />
used to replace an upper-level course should also be upper level.<br />

Strategic and Entrepreneurial<br />
Management<br />
Students may seek an academic minor in strategic and<br />
entrepreneurial management.<br />
Minor in Strategic and Entrepreneurial Management<br />
The strategic and entrepreneurial management minor<br />
complements the skills the student gains in his or her major<br />
discipline through study of current issues in the effective use of<br />
information, the globalization of business, strategic management,<br />
and acquiring the mind-set of an innovator and an entrepreneur.<br />
Objectives<br />
The student who graduates with a minor in strategic and<br />
entrepreneurial management will be able to:<br />
Apply key concepts and theories related to strategic and<br />
entrepreneurial management areas.<br />
Demonstrate knowledge of domestic and global issues that<br />
affect the business environment.<br />
Discuss the major internal and external influences that should<br />
be considered in the development of organizational strategy.<br />
Develop and evaluate the financial resources, promotional<br />
activities, and employee recruiting and training programs<br />
necessary in beginning a new venture.<br />
Create a business plan for the new venture or business unit.<br />
Demonstrate competence in the use of databases, the Web,<br />
and other library resources to retrieve information related to<br />
strategic and general management issues.<br />
Develop effective written and oral communication skills<br />
acceptable in the workplace today.<br />
Requirements for the Minor<br />
A minor in strategic and entrepreneurial management requires<br />
the completion of 15 semester hours of coursework in strategic<br />
and entrepreneurial management; at least 9 semester hours must<br />
be earned in courses numbered 300 or above. Specific course<br />
requirements are listed below. If a specific course required for the<br />
minor is taken instead to satisfy the requirements in the student’s<br />
major, another course in the same discipline should be substituted<br />
to fulfill the required minimum number of semester hours for<br />
the minor. Any course used to replace an upper-level course<br />
