18 A VIEW FROM THE BOOK NOOK Chris Fraser The Book Nook — “A Lending Library” We are now re-opened Monday to Friday 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. **** I am pleased to let you all know that the Book Nook Library is now open until 4:00 p.m. If there is not a volunteer working in the library, members may sign out books in the binder, otherwise a volunteer will be happy to help you. Due to Covid-19 guidelines, we are still not allowing puzzles to be done in the library, but hope some time in the future, this will be available once again. I have a great book to tell you all about, “Enemy At The Gates” by Kyle Mills. CIA Director Irene Kennedy discovers a mole searching the Agency’s database for information on Nicolas Ward, a trillionaire who is trying to make the world a better place to live in. Kennedy assigns Mitch Rapp to take the job of protecting him. In doing so, Rapp has to use Ward as bait in an attempt to discover the traitor who has seemingly unlimited access to government secrets. Ward has built a compound in Southwestern Uganda and Rapp and his team do whatever it takes to make this place secure against any attack from Gideon Auma and his rebels. Rapp not only has to protect Ward, but also try to uncover the mole. This book is full of action and suspense and I hope you will enjoy reading it as much as I did. We are welcoming new members to join us on the second and fourth Monday of the month at 11 am in the Board Room. This includes members who have diabetes or care for someone else who has diabetes. We share ideas to live with diabetes and support each other. The group is facilitated by Community Dietitian, Molly Roberts. 19 BIRTHDAYS Jagt, Nellie - Feb. 11 (93) Spears, Dwayne - Feb. 14 (60) PASSAGES Batty, Leah passed away on Sunday, December 5, 2021, at the age of 98. She was a long-time GWSA member, involved in many committees and activities including proofreading the Sentinel. Graham, Gordon passed away on Friday, January 14, 2022, in his 89th year. His wife Mary has been a front desk volunteer for many years. Matthews, Marianne passed away on Sunday, January 23, 2022, in her 91st year. She was a long-time GWSA member and was involved with the Hearing Improvement group. It highlights a few of the exciting things happening at the GWSA, important communications from the Board, and upcoming programs by CSS (Community Support Services).
