“We must make our own language in design”
Yunus Emre Sağlam, who graduated from the Department
of Interior Architecture and Environmental
Design at Mehmet Akif Ersoy University and the Department
of International Relations at Atatürk University,
is still studying Sociology at Atatürk University.
Sağlam continuing his career both academically and
in the field is also the brand strategy director at the
family company Albox.
Yunus Emre Sağlam, we talked about design and the
manner in Turkey, underlined that especially technology
and design are a union. Sağlam saying that he
asked himself if something that is produced is suitable
for needs or not believes the match the user with
product will be right in this way.
While making a design what is a must for you?
I attach importance very much to the spirit of house
and needs of the person who will use the product as
training. Spirits and needs of every house are different.
While I was making my designs, I am asking
myself, Could I touch the needs of this person or
people who will use these products? Could I prepare
the rightest usage for that person? Could I do the
most ergonomic planning for that person? These are
must questions for me. According to those details,
I am trying making my job and offering service that
I am professional. I am ensuring the rightest match
between the users and the products.
When and how did the design begin in your life?
Design entered my life when I was a child, in the furniture
workshop that our father Osman Sağlam was
running at that time. I actually started designing by
seeing products that are completely handcrafted and
close to perfection. Design and production is a very
laborious and demanding job. It is an art that deserves
great value and appreciation. During the periods
when there were no technological products, I had the
