Celebrating Charles Sayre
The life of The Rev Dr Charles A. Sayre, who passed away in August 2020, a
few months after his 100th birthday, will be celebrated at the United Methodist
Church on Sat Apr 9, starting at 11am.
Dr Sayre served as the senior pastor for the church for 25 years, from 1965 to
1990, and led his church, and others in the region, in outreach to Camden. He
inspired the establishment of Respond Inc, a social service agency in Camden,
and served as chair of its board of directors for decades.
Dr Sayre was an active member of the Rotary Club of Haddonfield for 55
years, and served as its president in 1983-84. Rotary District 7640 recognized
his many contributions with its Vocational Service Award in 2009.
The service in the church’s sanctuary will be live-streamed. A reception with
light lunch will follow, in Propert Hall. Those interested in attending are asked
