Celebrate with the Symphony: 70!
Symphony in C will celebrate its 70th anniversary on Sun Apr 24 from 5 to
9pm at Tavistock Country Club.
The Symphony was founded as a community orchestra – the Haddonfield
Symphony – in 1952. Over time, its mission evolved into that of a training
orchestra for young professionals and a comprehensive music education
organization serving people of all ages throughout the region.
Symphony in C performs at Rutgers-Camden Center for the Arts and other
venues, and contributes to the quality of life we enjoy in Greater South Jersey.
The 70th Anniversary Gala will be chaired by Penny and Stephen E. Ryan of
Marlton and Rosie Hymerling of Haddonfield. Emcee will be former Haddonfield
mayor and Symphony in C board chair, Jack Tarditi.
Guests will enjoy cocktails, gourmet dinner with wine, and entertainment by
pianist David Zipse and the Elegance Electric String Quartet. Tavistock Country
Club’s Covid protocols in effect at the time of the event will be observed.
The gala will honor Charles (Chuck) Heuisler and C. Carney (Chick) Savery,
both of whom were instrumental in guiding the former Haddonfield Symphony
from community orchestra to the music education powerhouse it is today.
The event will also remember former board chairs and Archer Law attorneys
Robert R. Kugler and Lee Hymerling, who passed away in 2021.
Proceeds from the gala will support the Symphony’s Summer Camp, Youth
Orchestra, concerts for young people, and after-school instrumental music
programs in Camden and the region.
For Gala reservations and information, including details of sponsorship
opportunities, call Denise Stuart, vice president of development, at
856-240-1503 or email her at dstuart@symphonyinc.org.
Symphony in C is a New Jersey 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, so direct
donations are tax-deductible, as are substantial portions of ticket costs and
sponsorships for the gala.
