Celebrating this year’s high school graduates<br />

<strong>Madison</strong> Editor<br />
<strong>Madison</strong> County is home to more than<br />
800 newly graduated high school students<br />
as another school year enters the history<br />
books. Commencement ceremonies took<br />
place across the county between May 21 and<br />
May 29.<br />
West Jefferson<br />
West Jefferson High School was the first<br />
<strong>Madison</strong> County school to hold commencement<br />
ceremonies this year. The event took<br />
place on May 21 at the high school.<br />
Of the 91 students in the class, 28 graduated<br />
with honors, 32 were members of the<br />
National Honor Society, and one was a<br />
member of the National Technical Honor<br />
Society through Tolles Career & Technical<br />
Center.<br />
The valedictorians are: Aiden Clerico,<br />
Tennessee Jennings, Bryce Keckley, Riley<br />
Marshall, Emily Miller, Annabel Phipps,<br />
Canyon Schneider and Sydney Slone. The<br />
salutatorian is Jessica Fling.<br />
This year’s outstanding Tolles student is<br />
Aliyanna Soloha.<br />
The class officers are: Canyon Schneider,<br />
president; Ethan Miller, vice president;<br />
Lauren Humphries, secretary; Tyler<br />
Buescher, treasurer; Aimee Cordle, public<br />
relations; and Graham Gardner, historian.<br />
The class flower is the white rose. The<br />
class colors are brown and gold. The class<br />
chose “You’re Gonna Miss This” by Trace<br />
Adkins as their song and “2 Legit 2 Quit” as<br />
their motto.<br />
<strong>Madison</strong>-Plains<br />
<strong>Madison</strong>-Plains High School’s commencement<br />
ceremony was held May 27 in<br />
the high school gymnasium.<br />
Of the 77 students in the class, eight<br />
graduated with honors and 10 were members<br />
of National Honor Society.<br />
Tyson Guiette, the valedictorian, plans to<br />
attend The Ohio State University to study<br />
engineering. Andrew Geyer, the salutatorian,<br />
plans to attend the University of<br />
Cincinnati to study electrical engineering<br />
technology.<br />
The class officers are: Tyson Guiette,<br />
president; Cainan Kelly, vice president;<br />
Rylee Davis, secretary; Jada Gilpen, treasurer;<br />
and Andrew Thompson, sergeant-atarms.<br />
The class flower is the yellow rose, and<br />
the class colors are green and gold. The class<br />
motto is: “Everybody is a genius. But if you<br />
judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it<br />
will live its whole life believing that it is stupid.”<br />
London<br />
London High School’s commencement<br />
took place on May 27 at Bowlus Field.<br />
Of the 160 students in the class, 16 graduated<br />
with honors, 18 were members of National<br />
Honor Society, and two were<br />
members of the National Technical Honor<br />
Society.<br />
Josephine Davis, the valedictorian, plans<br />
to attend Georgetown University. Erica<br />
Ren, the salutatorian, plans to attend The<br />

Swift, and the class motto is “It’s your turn to choose and define<br />
what success means to you” by Octavia Spencer.<br />
Shekinah<br />
Shekinah Christian School’s commencement ceremony took<br />
place on May 27 at Shiloh Mennonite Church.<br />
Of the nine students in the class, three graduated with honors<br />
diplomas and five graduated with honors.<br />
The valedictorians are Alayna Schrader, Connor Slabaugh and<br />
Andrew Yutzy. The salutatorians are Lillia Kilzer and Clay Showalter.<br />
Schrader, Slabaugh and Showalter plan to attend Rosedale<br />
Bible College. Yutzy is headed to Cedarville University. Kilzer will<br />
attend Huntington University.<br />
The class officers are: Andrew Yutzy, president; Connor<br />
Slabaugh, vice president; Alayna Schrader, secretary; and Clay<br />
Showalter, treasurer.<br />
The class flower is a yellow daffodil, and the class colors are yellow<br />
and purple. The class chose “Christ be magnified” as its quote.<br />
The class verse is: “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today<br />
and forever” Hebrews 13:8.<br />
Tolles<br />
Tolles Career & Technical Center held its certification ceremony<br />
for seniors on May 23-24 in the Tolles auditorium.<br />
Of the 307 students in the class, 26 received Lift awards and 12<br />
were members of the National Technical Honor Society.<br />
