Festival
Chorleiter / Conductor: Karsten Scholz
The “Sine Nomine - Philharmonischer Chor e. V.”, with more than 70 members today, was
founded in 1987. More than 40 choral works by almost as many composers, classical and contemporary,
have been rehearsed and performed by the choir, some of them for the first time
in Braunschweig. These include world premiers such as the work "Europa" by the Brunswick
composer Hans-Wilhelm Plate as well as first performances in Germany such as the "Jouluoratorium"
by the Estonian composer Urmas Sisask. In addition to the big choral works, the
repertoire includes a cappella pieces from all parts of the world. Until mid-2008, the choir
was led by co-founder and first choir director Agnes Kauer. Afterwards Matthias Wengler took
over the choir direction until 2015. Today Karsten Scholz leads the choir.
