Internationales Chorfest Magdeburg October 5 - 9, 2022 Magdeburg, Germany A festival of international understanding Following the huge success of the European Choir Games and Grand Prix of Nations in 2015, Magdeburg – home city of Baroque composer Georg Philipp Telemann – will once again become a welcoming host for a dynamic and inspiring festival of choral music. The Chorfest Magdeburg, which has been successfully organized by the Choir Association Saxony-Anhalt for years, will be enriched with an international choir competition by INTERKULTUR to create an eventful international festival to connect local choirs with singers from all over the world. Competitions in different levels of difficulty, categories and settings as well as Friendship Concerts, possibilities for singing together and personal education leave nothing to be desired by the participating choirs. A variety of concert activities by the local choirs will make a valuable contribution to these opportunities. The “Internationales Chorfest Magdeburg” provides a platform for an active exchange of national and international choral music, new friendships and unique intercultural encounters.

1955 wurde der „Kinder- und Jugendchor <strong>Magdeburg</strong>“ gegründet und 1991 an das Hegel-<br />

Gymnasium angegliedert. Das Repertoire umfasst Kinder- und Jugendliteratur aller Epochen,<br />

sowie Höhepunkte Ausschnitte aus dem Bereich Musiktheater und Musical in szenischer<br />

Gestaltung. Der Chor ist regelmäßig erfolgreich bei nationalen und internationalen<br />

Wettbewerben und erreichte mehrfach ein „Goldenes Diplom“, so erhielt er 2018 beim 10.<br />

Deutschen Chorwettbewerb in der Kategorie Mädchenchöre das Prädikat „hervorragend“<br />

und den 1. Preis in dieser Kategorie sowie einen Sonderpreis. 2019 beim „Festival di Verona“<br />

2019 konnte erneut ein „Goldenes Diplom“ ersungen werden und die Chorleiterin wurde für<br />

ein hervorragendes Repertoire ausgezeichnet. Die Gesamtleitung des Chores liegt seit 2006<br />

in den Händen der Chorleiterin Astrid Schubert.<br />

The “Kinder- und Jugendchor <strong>Magdeburg</strong>” was founded in 1955 and affiliated with the Hegel<br />

Gymnasium in 1991. The repertoire includes children and youth choir literature of all eras.<br />

Highlights of the choir are also performing excerpts from musical theater and scenic Musical<br />

performances. The choir is regularly successful in national and international competitions and<br />

achieved a "Golden Diploma" several times. In 2018 at the 10 th German Choir Competition in<br />

the category of girls choirs the choir received the rating "excellent" and the 1st prize in this category<br />

and a special prize. In 2019 a "Golden Diploma" could be earned again at the "Festival di<br />

Verona" and the choir director was awarded for an outstanding repertoire. The overall direction<br />

of the choir has been in the hands of the choirmaster Astrid Schubert since 2006.
