Improving Financial Health for Cardholders Through Education, Gamification, and Rewards In 2021, SMI acquired PayPerks®, an award-winning educational platform that uses interactive online games and cash rewards to enhance financial literacy. PayPerks is available exclusively through the smiONE Card, which proudly serves two million cardholders across the country. SMI recently partnered with Visa® Consulting & Analytics to conduct a research study into smiONE cardholders and the likelihood of them adopting PayPerks. Secondary goals are the basics: improving credit score, saving money. Higher-order goals like paying off debt and investing are further out on the horizon. PayPerks is considered relevant and a good fit with the smiONE Card; most are open to enrollment. 3 in 4 say they would use their SMI Card more often if it were to offer financial education along with savings and budgeting tools through PayPerks. Empowering payors with advanced payment technology SMART® Pay is a one-stop shop for making and receiving child support payments. Now managed directly by SMI, SMART Pay offers a variety of payment options through our website and mobile platform, as well as new, convenient methods like text message and cash retail payments. The full suite of SMART Pay payment options is available to all current and future state and local agency partners. EFT/EDI Bank Draft Electronic Check Cash Check Credit/Debit Card Mobile Payment Methods Text to Pay SMART Pay Website SMART Pay Mobile Website SMART Pay Cash Retail Payments Money Order IVR Mail Pay by Text SMI’s Pay by Text feature allows obligors to receive text message payment reminders and make one-time or recurring payments by responding to text message prompts. The obligor may opt in or out of the Pay by Text feature and schedule, edit frequency of, or cancel text payment prompts through the SMART Pay website. Remitters who choose the Pay by Text option will be subject to a convenience fee, which is a percentage of the child support payment amount. Cash Retail Payments SMI is also pleased to provide the SMART Pay cash retail payment option, which offers an easy-to-use, convenient, and secure way for cash-preferred obligors to make payments by leveraging our digital and physical barcode technology to make cash payments at over 75,000 participating stores nationwide. SMI will also continue to process cash payments submitted through other retailer platforms, such as PayNearMe, TouchPay, or MoneyGram. ■
