The British magazine "Cyclist" discovers Gran Canaria as a cycling
tourism destination with the help of “Free Motion Bikecenter”

“Cyclist” came to visit Gran Canaria at the beginning
of December 2022 to take a tour around the
roads that the island offers its cycling enthusiasts.
In order to make the trip go with a spin, they were
given wonderful guidance by the professionals
at “Free Motion Bikecenter”. Similarly, they made
the most of the opportunity to split their stay into
two different accommodation establishments
designed for sportsmen and women, namely the
“Gloria Palace San Agustín Thalasso & Hotel” and
the “Resort Cordial Santa Águeda”. This promotional
campaign was organised by the Gran Canaria
Tri, Bike & Run association, the official Gran
Canaria Tourism brand.
The team from the specialist magazine had their
goal firmly set from the moment they arrived: to
convey to the million visitors to their portal and
their more than 140,000 followers on social media
the huge amount of cycling routes available
on the island. What they did not expect to find
when they started putting their feet in the pedals
were the natural surroundings full of contrasts,
perfectly equipped sports accommodation establishments
and ideal temperatures regardless
of the time of year. These characteristics make
Gran Canaria a paradise for sportsmen and women.
They were accompanied on their travels by expert
cycling company, “Free Motion Bikecenter”.
Through this company they were not only
able to rent all their cycling equipment, but they
were also taken on a tour around the northeast
and south of Gran Canaria on two magnificent
routes by their professional guides. In addition,
this company has several stores distributed along
the main tourist areas of the island to provide its
customers with any help they may need.
The journalists made their first stop at the “Gloria
Palace San Agustín Thalasso & Hotel”. Its ideal
location and its 'Free Motion' centre located on
site make this accommodation option an ideal
operations base for cyclists. They were also able
to enjoy a moment of revitalisation in the Fitness
Pool and Harmony Zone at the comprehensively
equipped thalassotherapy centre.
After tackling several intense routes, the guests
chose to move to the “Resort Cordial Santa Águeda”
to spend their final few days in Gran Canaria.
Here, at these holiday lets, where comfort and
a unique atmosphere prevail, they were able to
take a well-deserved rest and get to know the oasis
that is the 'Perchel Beach Club'. In addition to
this, they sampled a range of tasty new flavours
at the restaurants of 'La Arrocería' and 'El Refectorio
de Ágata’.
With a whole host of new experiences under their
belts and having become familiar with an island
that reveals itself as sportier than ever, it was time
for the "Cyclist" team's adventures on the island
to come to an end.
