Spring Into Wellness Weight loss can be a challenging journey but with OPTIFAST you can enjoy a nutritionally designed range of meal replacement products from Nestle Health Science which has over 40 years’ experience across the globe and over 120 publications and studies to support its efficacy and safety. We tried out the OPTIFAST 6-Week Plan to see if it lived up to its claims. It’s important to note that weight loss results may vary from person to person and it’s always best to consult with a healthcare professional before starting any weight loss program. CONVENIENCE The shakes and soups are all made in less than 2 minutes in a shaker whilst the bars are an even quicker go-to option making the diet plan easy to follow and stick to even when I was out and about. VARIETY There are a variety of meal replacement options so things don’t get boring. In addition to high protein shakes in three flavours, there are three flavours of bars and three flavours of soup as well as two flavours of a meal replacement in a dessert style. Such variety helped me to stick to the plan, as I didn’t feel like I was eating the same thing every day. NUTRITIONAL BALANCE The shakes and bars are rich in high-quality protein with 24 essential vitamins and minerals and a good source of fibre. OPTIFAST meal replacement products have been scientifically designed to be a healthy way to help you lose weight hassle-free. TASTE All the OPTIFAST meal replacement products taste great especially all of the shakes and bars. The consistency and mouth feel were pleasant and enjoyable. THE 3-DAY CHALLENGE The first three days required some adjusting from previous unhealthy habits but after this time, I found following the Plan was a lot easier. SUPPORT Holistic support is available on the OPTIFAST blog with tasty recipes, nutrition advice, and lifestyle tips. There is also @optifastuk on Instagram and the closed Facebook group, where those following an OPTIFAST weight loss plan can share tips, advice, and support. HEALTHY EATING HABITS For the first 3 weeks, I replaced my daily meals with 3 OPTIFAST products. Over the remaining 3 weeks, I gradually reintroduced low-calorie conventional foods from a specific Food & Beverages List, so I then used a mix of OPTIFAST meal replacements and low-calorie healthy foods. By week 6, I was consuming one OPTIFAST shake a day and eating 2 low-calorie meals of non-starchy vegetables and lean protein with a total calorie intake of 1,500 kcals. I drank 2 litres of zero-calorie drinks every day. EXERCISE Light exercise and walking are recommended for 30 minutes daily for the first 5 weeks of the plan and I avoided strenuous activities like jogging. In week 6, regular light exercise and walking are recommended of between 30 to 60 minutes daily. RESULTS After 6 weeks on the Plan, I had lost over 20 pounds going from 17st 8lbs to 16st 2lbs. FINAL THOUGHTS The plan may not be the best option for those who want to only eat balanced low-calorie meals cooked from scratch as it relies heavily on processed meal replacement products. However a recipe book is included which helps guide you on preparing healthy meals in your own kitchen. I had a great experience following the OPTIFAST 6-Week Plan and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a convenient and effective way to jumpstart their weight loss journey.
