A contracted teaching experience that requires instructor approval. Specific guidelines<br />

catalog. Open to sophomores, juniors, or seniors with consent of major advisor.<br />
EC 303 Money and Banking (1)<br />
A study of the financial intermediary and payments system of the United States;<br />
operations, supervision and history of commercial banks; the Federal Reserve System and<br />
its control of the money supply; the economy of the United States and the influence<br />
thereon of monetary policy; the international payments system; and money and capital<br />
markets. Prerequisite: EC 201.<br />
EC 308 Macroeconomics (1)<br />
A study in depth of the aggregates of economic society: Gross National Product, national<br />
income, personal income; the balance of savings and investment; economic stability; and<br />
economic growth. Prerequisites: EC 201, EC 202, and MA 231. Fall.<br />
EC 309 Microeconomics (1)<br />
A survey of contemporary theory concerning consumption, production, demand, supply;<br />
market price under competition and monopoly; factor prices; wages, interest, rent; and<br />
the concept of profits. Prerequisites: EC 201, EC 202, and MA 231. Spring.<br />
EC 311 Quantitative Analysis for Business and Economics (1)<br />
Selected methods and techniques related to managerial choice and administrative<br />
decision making. (Also listed as BA 311.) Prerequisites: BA 201 and MA 207. Fall,<br />

EC 313 Games and Strategic Behavior (1)<br />
A non-technical introduction to game theory – the formal analysis of strategic<br />
interactions between economic agents – and its applications. The course covers the basic<br />
analysis of simultaneous and sequential move games with perfect information and<br />
imperfect information. Emphasis is placed on developing strategic intuition and<br />
illustrating how game theory improves the understanding of strategic behavior in<br />
economic, political, and other social situations. Prerequisites: EC 202 and MA 231.<br />
EC 340 Economics of Natural Resources and the Environment (1)<br />
An examination of the economic theory of natural resource use and the environment.<br />
Prerequisite: EC 201 or EC 202.<br />
EC 350 WR Labor Economics (1)<br />
An introduction to the field of labor economics. Topics covered include theories of<br />
supply and demand for labor, wage determination, non-wage compensation schemes,<br />
investments in human capital, and government intervention into the labor market. A<br />
Writing Reinforcement designated course. Prerequisites: EC 201 and EC 202.<br />
