Faculty-Led Travel Projects
The Krulak Institute supports faculty-led travel projects during Exploration Term, during
the regular term when travel may be integrated into regular term courses, and at other
times throughout the year. Course-based study-travel projects integrate travel with course
readings, reflections, and lectures. Travel can last anywhere from one to three weeks and
may occur near the end of the term or halfway through during spring break.
Exploration Term travel projects are announced in the spring prior to the scheduled
Exploration Term. Financial support is available. Travel award applications are due in
September. Interested students should consult with the faculty sponsor and can enroll
during the regular registration process.
Service-Learning Integrated Courses
Service-Learning Integrated Courses refer to regular term courses in various disciplines
which incorporate community-based work. All service-learning integrated courses are
Experiential Learning (EL) designated in Explorations General Education. Servicelearning
integrated courses meet the following criteria:
• involve activity that addresses a community need (campus, local, regional, or
global) aligned with course or project learning outcomes
• incorporate structured student reflection
