When owner Graham Turner
researched waste solutions for his
hut he came across Glampsan.
He was impressed by the
website, the range of products
on offer and the knowledge and
expertise of the Glampsan team,
who were able to recommend a
turnkey solution.
Graham settled for a combination of
the 500 gallon Flat Tank and a Saniflo
Sanipump, which were simple to set up
and operate. Whereas a complete sewage
lifting station might have been an option,
Graham preferred a simpler solution to
handle the waste. The 500 gallon Flat
Tank sits unobtrusively
screened underneath his
shepherds hut to collect
toilet, sink and shower
waste and Graham uses
the submersible Sanipump as and when
required to pump the waste away through
above ground pipework to an existing foul
sewer.
The chosen vortex Sanipump pumps at
up to 27m3 per hour so the tank is emptied
within about five minutes, a job which
Graham undertakes every two to three
weeks on a visitor changeover day. Once
the pumping work is finished the pipework
is rolled up and stored away underneath
the shepherds hut.

Details: Farmer, Nick Welltrough, of Welltrough Hall Farm in
Cheshire, has a caravan and motor home park on his large
arable farm, as well as a small glamping site. The staycation
trend of the last few years has led to an increase in visitors
to the site and Nick decided to expand the
caravan pitches into an adjacent hillside
field at the farm. To search for ideas
for a discreet drainage solution,
Nick attended the Glamping Show
where he found a Saniflo solution
on the Glampsan stand.
The site offers 17 hard standing
pitches with five additional
plots currently in construction.
To provide a discreet, reliable
drainage solution for the caravans
and Elsan points, the owner selected
a Sanifos 610 underground lifting station which has been
installed in an adjacent field to handle grey and black water
waste. The unit pumps up a bank approximately 10m and along
a distance of almost 200m horizontally to connect to the main
sewer on the site.
To ensure continuity of service the Sanifos has two pumps
and is fully alarmed. Once the final landscaping has been
completed, the only visible part of the unit will be the lid.
Customer feedback: Nick Welltrough, owner, said: “The
Sanifos won’t be visible to customers which was a key priority.
We have alpacas and rare breed goats, woodland walks,
breathtaking views of the countryside and now we have a
drainage solution that offers total peace of mind. I am
very pleased with the solution.”
