ALadies Day fundraiser to thank<br />

womeninrugby for all they do for the<br />

sport, has raised $8000 for Cancer<br />

Society <strong>North</strong> <strong>Canterbury</strong>.<br />

The eventhostedbythe Ashley<br />

RugbyClub, featured the Ashleyv<br />

Glenmark­Cheviot Division Isenior<br />

rugbygame,played at LoburnDomain<br />

in wet,wintry,weather.<br />

Everyone was welcome to attend the<br />

event, no matter what team they<br />

supported.<br />

Tickets for the catered fundraiser,<br />

whichwas lastheld in 2021,sold out<br />

within 31/2hours with 50 more tickets<br />

available this year.<br />

The moneyraisedincreased by<br />

$3000this year,whichsurprised the<br />

organisers becauseofthe cost of living<br />

crisis.<br />

‘‘We are very humbled to see the<br />

support the communitygives this<br />

event,’’Laura Barrett, one of the<br />

organisers, said.<br />

‘‘Cancer is acausethat people do<br />

like to support.’’<br />

The moneyraisedcame from many<br />

sources,includingticket sales,raffles,<br />

silent auctions for donatedgoods,cash<br />

donations, and sponsors.<br />

Tiffany said they wanted to give<br />

‘‘massive thankstothe community’’ for<br />

their support.<br />

‘‘It is an awesome donation and we<br />

are super stoked to receive it.’’<br />

The money will be used in the <strong>North</strong><br />

<strong>Canterbury</strong> community to support<br />

people and their families affected by<br />

cancer.<br />

This FREE classroom based course will help you re-familiarise yourself with<br />

traffic rules and safe driving practices. It will also increase your knowledge<br />

about other transport options and help you remain independent for longer.<br />
