CHESTERFIELD couple John and Lynn have lived in their
detached bungalow for almost 30 years but they have never
felt quite as snug as they do right now.
The reason? They have just experienced a rather special roof
transformation carried out by local family-run business Dalton
Roofing.
Their existing tiled roof had offered good service since the
property was built way back in the 1960s, but it was looking
very tired and mortar was dropping off. Although it wasn’t
leaking, it was draughty and cold and not keeping the house
as warm as it should have been doing. It also had a chimney
stack which hadn’t been used for years.
John had read about Dalton Roofing in Dronfield Eye’s sister
publication, Twist magazine, and also noticed their premises
at Sheepbridge, so it was to them that he turned to for help.
Initially, the discussion was simply about repairing the roof
ridge and a tiled ‘valley’ where the mortar had crumbled
particularly badly. But after speaking to the company’s MIoR
and founder, Phil Dalton, the couple decided to invest in a
complete new roof. This would not only give them peace of
mind for the future, it would also transform the appearance of
their bungalow and make it really stand out.
The old tiles were removed, the redundant chimney stack
was taken down and attractive anthracite grey tiles took their
place. The Dalton Roofing team also installed new roof
insulation with breathable felt.
Now not only are John and Lynn delighted with their new
roof, there have also been positive comments from people in

the street, saying how smart it looks.
Said John: “We would definitely recommend them. The lads
working on our roof were brilliant, so hard working and
professional and very pleasant to have around.
“They worked on it Monday to Friday and came back the
following Monday and Tuesday and it was all done.”
Said Phil: “Our workers are always uniformed and looking
smart to reflect our company’s professional image. People
seem to appreciate that.”
And realising the Dalton Roofing experience is down to

Sheepbridge offices.
