New gear falls from Simms
Simms Fishing Products, the US
manufacturer of waders, outerwear,
footwear, and technical apparel, has released
release its Fall 2023 collection, designed
and developed to keep anglers warm, dry,
and in the moment for the seasons ahead.
The collection launched in conjunction
with the release of Wader Maker, a film
that showcases the craftsmanship, precision
and dedication of the team who have been
making waders in Bozeman, Montana for
the past 30-plus years.
Simms COO and head of product,

Fall 2023 delivers technical gear and

the Freestone range with the Freestone
Z stockingfoot and bootfoot waders,
Challenger insulated jacket and bib,
Challenger 7in Deck Boot, hoody and
sweat pant.
For river focused anglers, the beloved
Bulkley insulated jacket returns while the
collection is further bolstered with the
Bulkley insulated bootie and insulated hand
muff, two pieces specifically designed to
keep extremities extra warm on the coldest
days of the year.
Simms’ renowned Fall Run collection
continues to grow with the additions of
the hybrid hoody, hybrid shacket, women’s
insulated hoody and women’s hybrid
hooded vest.
Finally, the popular Rogue collection
has been updated to include a fleece vest,
fishing pant and fleece hoody.

Support call for Casting for Recovery
As people mark Breast
Cancer Awareness Month
this October, non-profit
organisation Casting for
Recovery is appealing for
more backing for its unique
programme.
For 27 years, US-based
CfR has provided free retreats
for over 11,000 women with
breast cancer, using the sport
of fly fishing as a model for
healing.
This year, CfR will host 52
retreats nationwide with the
help of over 1800 volunteers.
Through CfR’s programme,
women learn the basics of
fly fishing, gaining not only
specific outdoor skills, but also
the confidence to seek out
lifelong outdoor exploration,
adventure and new experiences
following a cancer diagnosis,
regardless of their health or
physical strength.
CfR retreats serve women
of any age and any stage
of treatment or recovery
though a magic combination
of support, camaraderie and
fly fishing, which has been
described by many as “lifechanging.”
