FEATURE REC STRONG RESPONSE TO REC’S UNIQUE RECOIL XL REC Components is the manufacturer of the well-known and established RECOIL and CERECOIL line guide brands. These brands have been a staple on premium fishing rods across all techniques for over 25 years. In July <strong>2023</strong> REC announced its first new RECOIL line guide series design in over 20 years at the annual ICAST convention. RECOIL XL is manufactured with 100 per cent Nickel Titanium (NiTi) Alloy, just as RECOIL and CERECOIL line guides are. REC components is the only rod component manufacturer in the world to offer a line guide manufactured using NiTi. This unique “shape memory” material is extremely light, sensitive, wear resistant, cannot corrode in any environment and is virtually indestructible. In addition, this guide material is the only one in the world which flexes with the rod blank under load. LOOKING AHEAD RECOIL XL is the future of the RECOIL line. This new frame design combines all the features and benefits of classic RECOIL guides with an entirely new field-tested frame design. This frame design utilises the existing loop diameter of classic RECOIL guides with a significantly higher guide height (averaging 50 per cent). This revolutionary guide design improves rod performance by significantly reducing line slap on the blank and reducing guide weight and bulk. By significantly reducing line slap, overall casting distance is increased. With a higher guide height, smaller guide sizes can be used to achieve the same “choke- down” effect. This reduction in guide train size also results in decreased guide weight and bulk. This modern guide design is what the industry is demanding. The “New Guide Concept” has grown in popularity in recent years. This guide layout is significantly different from traditional layouts and requires high frame guides to achieve the desired effect. Many OEM and custom rod builders use this layout and expect to be using this layout on future programs. By releasing the RECOIL XL line, REC now provides the market with a proven and premium NiTi solution for this rod guide design layout. REC expects to grow this line rapidly by acquiring new customers and expanding business with existing customers. RECOIL XL enables fishing rods to perform more efficiently during casting, reeling, and fighting fish. This technical guide is designed to make the best fishing rods on the market perform at the highest level. Initial guide sizes available include Single Foot 10, 12, 16, 20 and 25. Guide finish options include Natural Titanium and PVD coated Black Pearl. REC expects to offer additional sizes in the future.
