At the Riffelhaus, 2,500 m above sea level, the magnificent
mountains of Zermatt welcome guests as equals. Located
in the middle of the ski slopes, the hotel is the ideal starting
point for a perfect day of skiing on 360 km of perfectly
groomed slopes. Wi-Fi is free and available throughout
the hotel.
Refurbished in 2014, the hotel benefits from a wellness
area with unique views of the Matterhorn plus 25 newly
renovated rooms featuring a wealth of Alpine chic.
Restaurant, lounge and ski parlour
Hotel restaurant (80 seats), sun terrace (50 seats), Buffet
Bar Riffelalp self-service restaurant (300 seats), sun terrace
(80 seats). The cuisine at the Riffelhaus 1853 is hearty
and tasty, with a focus on Swiss specialities. In inclement
weather, guests meet in the lounge or ski parlour for an
aperitif or a buffet of Valais specialities.

The Gornergrat Railway winds its way leisurely up the imposing
mountain towards the Gornergrat. Roughly halfway
up, right at the tree line of the larch and Stone pine
forests, the train stops at Riffelalp. In summer, Europe’s
highest-altitude tram (owned by the hotel) runs to the
Riffelalp Resort 2222 m; in winter, it’s the electric skidoo.
The name of the hotel gives the game away. Located on a
high plateau at 2,222 metres above sea level, the resort is
directly opposite the Matterhorn. You feel you could
reach out and touch the Swiss icon. Since the 19th century,
guests have appreciated the Riffelalp as an exclusive place
of rest and relaxation. The resort has constantly evolved
since then, and a luxurious and spacious wellness area
with heated outdoor pool has been added. The Riffelalp
Resort 2222 m in winter boasts three restaurants that leave
nothing to be desired in terms of culinary delights … the
Riffelalp continues to embody tranquillity, nature and
warm hospitality. Well-being is a true luxury, best found
on the Riffelalp.
In summer, the Riffelalp is nestled in green meadows with
countless wild streams. The cows munch on the wild herbs
around the alp and in return provide tasty alp cheese and
a particularly good fresh whey-based cheese. In winter,
the Riffelalp Resort finds itself in the heart of the worldfamous
ski resort of Zermatt – one piste leads right past
the hotel. As soon as skis are fastened, visitors can enjoy
360 kilometres of ski slopes. The resort offers the highest
spa area in Europe at the end of a sporting day in the
mountains. Take a sauna, splash around in the indoor or
outdoor pools or enjoy a massage courtesy of magical
hands. An experience that will help you forget everyday
life.

Wedding ceremonies take place in the mountain chapel
right next to the hotel. Overlooking the majestic Matterhorn,
wedding parties enjoy an aperitif on the terrace,
followed by a banquet in the restaurant. Bride and groom
have only one thing to say – yes!
