TAHITI THE LAST SURPRISE DON’T LOOK OUT LOOK IN Words and Images by Steve and Zac Dickinson After a lifetime of visiting Tahiti and her islands, every trip is still an invigorating experience, a mash of colour, food, beaches blue water, but it is on repeat. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not a ‘bad’ repeat; you can’t eat enough Tahitian raw fish nor see too many sunsets over Moorea while sipping Hinano in the evening sun, but it is still a repeat. But this trip in 2023 was a little different. We spent a few days watching the world's best surfers fight it out at Teahupoo's famous wave, the bustle and hustle of boats in the channel, watching the euphoria of winning and the devastation of loss. We then spent a day out on the water game fishing off Moorea with Moorea Fishing <strong>Adventure</strong>, hunting the elusive white marlin, mahimahi and tuna with Matahi and his brother Tauhere, (world-renowned for his famous banana bread) and learning about the rare Tahitian penguin (but that is another story for another time).
