“We’re a pretty good team. He’s shown
me a lot and helped me learn about the
cattle side of it, and obviously the equipment
side as well,” she said.
Together, they run TFS Cattle, which
markets animals for show purposes. In the
late summer, they were getting ready for
their fall steer sale and heifer sale.
Their daughter participated in her first
show earlier in the summer.
“It was fun to get that going,” Schwartz
said. She and Oaklynn also are raising
chickens.
“We have six chickens and six eggs
a day. I oversee the chickens. This is a
project I wanted for my daughter, and it’s
a start to her college fund,” she said.
With a schedule that has her leaving the
house weekdays at 7 a.m. to drop the kids
off at daycare and returning home at 5:45
p.m., she said her husband is the primary
caretaker of the cattle.
“In the winter, it’s more of a family
affair because we’re feeding sileage

and always laying fresh bedding, which
requires more hands,” she said.
The combination of living on a farm
and working in ag lending is perfect,
Schwartz said.
“I knew I wanted to live on a farm and
raise children on one like I was raised,”
she said. “Banking wasn’t so much on my
mind. They took a chance on me, and I
love it.”n
