Show featuring photographs
from The Eastern Iowa Farmer
on display at MAE; readers
invited to opening reception.
During the past eight years, Brooke
Till and Trevis Mayfield have
traversed the far reaches of the
rural community taking pictures
for The Eastern Iowa Farmer
magazine.
A collection of those photographs will be on
display from Dec. 1 to Jan. 31 at the Maquoketa
Art Experience, 124 S. Main St., Maquoketa.
Readers of the magazine and members of
community are invited to stop by an opening
reception for the show between 4 p.m. and 7
p.m. Sunday, Dec. 4, to meet the photographers
and view the show. The event coincides with
the MAE’s annual holiday open house, and
food and entertainment will be provided.
The Eastern Iowa Farmer launched in the
spring of 2016 in Jackson and Clinton counties.
Since then, it has expanded to encompass more
than eight counties. It started with a belief by
Mayfield, who owns Sycamore Media, which
publishes the magazine.
“That belief was that agriculture is the core
driver of the Eastern Iowa economy and that
those who make the wheels turn share common
goals, common problems and a strong sense of
community,” he said.
Through their work for The Eastern Iowa
Farmer magazine, Till and Mayfield have captured
hundreds of images featuring the people
who animate the fields, barnyards, feedlots, and
kitchens in this part of the world.
