STATE OF THE CITY
BY MAYOR SHELLY PETROLIA
Infrastructure Improvements
are on the Horizon for 2024
COMING TO HISTORIC NORTH SWINTON AVENUE
Happy New Year, Delray
Beach! With a new
year comes new opportunities
to continue
improvements to our
city for all to enjoy. I’m
pleased to share that
Phase I of historic North
Swinton Avenue is one
of our 2024 improvement
projects. Crews
will mend the roadway,
add underground utility
infrastructure and
dedicated bike lanes, as
well as enhance the sidewalks at the NE 2nd Avenue and NW 22nd
Street intersections. Phase I of the project is set to begin in May
2024. For more information, please visit https://swintonutilityimprovements.com/.
TREATMENT PLANT UPDATE
The City’s Water Treatment Plant Progressive Design-Build Project
is continuing on schedule. The new water treatment plant will
ensure a state-of-the-art water treatment process, advance the City’s
monitoring and control systems, and improve water pressure.
Five design-build teams submitted proposals, and after review,
the selection committee short-listed the top three ranked firms to
participate in interviews. Following the interview process, CDM
Smith was the highest ranked firm. At the November 7, 2023, City
Commission Meeting, the Commission passed Resolution 220-23,
granting approval for staff to negotiate an agreement with CDM
Smith. The draft contract is expected to be placed on a city commission
agenda this month.
