maize is cultivated from which “Plent” is made.
When it comes to swimming fun, Lake Kaltern
has it all: Four bathing facilities, including a bar and
restaurant, with deck chairs where you can stretch
out and rest or read. And, of course, you can also
rent paddle boats, surfing equipment, SUPs, and
everything else you might still need for an enjoyable
day on the shores or in the water of Lake Kaltern.
It’s all in the immediate vicinity of the sailing club
and the fishing club in Kaltern. In the summertime,
the shore is also transformed into a giant outdoor
stage for the famous Lake Concerts (a three-part
series of musical entertainment). The concerts
continue to feature national and international stars.
Highlights include Status Quo, Uriah Heep, Hubert
von Goisern, James Blunt, Michael Patrick Kelly, the
Herbert Pixner Projekt, Silbermond, Lena, Mark
Forster, Álvaro Soler, and many more.
Lake Kaltern is many-facetted and yet unique,
too. Together with the Kalterersee wine, it embodies
the soul and the identity of this remarkable wine
village.

A wide range of lake events —
Concerts, musicals, dances –
on the Lake Stage at the LIDO
Beach. The lake, the majestic
Leuchtenburg shimmering in
light, the night, and the stars.
We can’t think of a more dramatic
backdrop for these entertaining
activities!
Lake bathing areas & the Lido —
The north shore of Lake Kaltern
is dotted with four public bathing
areas – featuring restaurants,
snack bars, and boat rentals.
Biotope — It’s a stopping-off
point for 250 species of migratory
birds. The nature preserve is
also home to 30 species of dragonflies.
When circumnavigating
the lake along the marked trail,
you’ll find 14 information panels
to provide you with interesting
facts about our landscape.
The Lake Trail — It’s the best
way to come to know Kaltern.
You’ll experience the lake and
the biotope, pass by vineyards
and rural estates, marvel at the
fortress, and see plenty of church
steeples. The magnificent Mendel
Ridge looms in the distance.
And there’s no lack of cafes and
restaurants. Come stroll, hike,
cycle, or push a baby-carriage.
The Lake Trail is the ideal way for
everyone to explore the lake.
Leuchtenburg — The ruins of the
Leuchtenburg can be traced back
to the 13th century. From there,
you can enjoy a marvelous view
of Lake Kaltern, the charming
South Tyrolean Wine Route, and
all the way into the Etsch.
