As far as the eye can see:
the vineyards with their rows
of vines. They reach from
the village and its districts
down to the lake and to the
edge of the forest. What we
live from and for.
These wines perfectly embody the characteristic
way of life of the people of this region. If spring
marks the re-awakening of Nature, and summer
represents its culmination, then the mellower rays
of sunshine characteristic of late-summer are the
first hint that winter is not far off. This is when
Nature garbs herself in a riotous display of colors
ranging from the deepest azures of the sky and the
stunning crimsons and golds of the fields, forests,
and vineyards. We may feel overtaken by a gentle
wistfulness, but we can console ourselves with
two more first-class wine events: the Kaltern Wine
Days and the Kaltern Wine Culinarium. Between
the great wine events held here annually you will
marvel at the cheerful staccato of wine tastings,
gourmet festivals, professional wine seminars and
guided tours through vineyards, classes conducted
by the South Tyrolean Wine Academy for laypersons,
all the way up to fascinating visits to the South
Tyrolean Wine Museum. Kalterersee wines are part
of the heart and soul of Kaltern and Lake Kaltern.

The Wine Trail — The Wine
Trail is a figure-eight path which
crosses at the Wine House in the
village square, and which will take
you all around the vineyards in
the vicinity of our village.
The terrains — Varieties of grape
used to make red wines and
requiring warmer temperatures
dot the landscape around Lake
Kaltern. In the higher elevations,
you’ll find varieties used to make
white wines. Between them, there’s
a mix of varieties depending
upon the specific terrain and
wine-growing conditions.

of our wine cellars! Take part
in wine-tastings at the wineries

May 10, 2024
It’s the signal for the start of the
wine summer here in our village.
The refined atmosphere of the
winecenter, with the finest red
and white wines Kaltern has to
offer. To the accompaniment of a
variety of taste-treats, cool party
music, and the rapid approach
of summer.
Kaltern All in Red —
May 31, 2024
A festival of red tents and red
wines, with the presentation of
those select Kalterersee wines
which have been awarded the
prestigious Kalterersee Charta
Quality Seal. All against a backdrop
of gourmet dining, and the
many other red wines our village
has to offer.
Kaltern All in White —
June 25, 2024
The finest white wines of Kaltern
are presented at the village
square, which is garbed in white
for this memorable evening. A
pageant of prestigious wines held
in a venue garbed all in white.
Kaltern Wine Days —
September 5 and 6, 2024
The motto is “An entire village
presents its best.” That’s more
than just a motto, though: It’s a
promise! You can participate in
wine-tastings where remarkable
white, red, and rosé wines are
served. But, of course, there will
be no shortage of delicious gourmet
treats to discover, as well!
