a rich and varied culture! We are reliable
custodians of these cultural treasures – for the
pleasure and edification of guests and locals, alike!
That’s one facet of culture.
The other facet: Viewing objects of everyday life,
and thus recognizing the “everyday” in the objects.
Objects? By that we mean customs, habits, and
things. An especially suitable method of experiencing
life in our charming village.
We suggest you try the following: Just glance at
these things – but not too closely! Just sit and relax
and watch village life taking place around you.
The best places to do this? The village square, the
little lanes and passageways around it, and Lake
Kaltern itself.
You might then focus your gaze on the individual
components of this real-life mural. Something blue
dashes across the square: A blue-aproned innkeep-
er. Men in aprons! Many a visitor might find this
unusual, but for the locals, it’s the most ordinary
thing in the world.

For example: The blue “apron”. A blue fabric apron
for men. It is derived from old country-style living,
but it’s still widely worn today. Traditional and very
practical at the same time.
Then there are the shoppers, the business people,
and the “early morning” people. Always popping in
and out! If you follow them, you might find them
standing at a bar – at 10 o’clock in the morning!
#2 habits
For example: A quick cuppa. You’ll need about ten
minutes to properly enjoy a late-morning espresso
in the bar. A brief interruption, a moment to relax,
maybe for a chat. Important village news can be
shared. An analog form of “social media”.
