The rows and rows of
grapevines score the landscape,
giving it contours and character. The village
is surrounded and permeated by a pristine natural
environment connecting it to the lake. Nature also
determines the rhythm of life here. The rhythm of
work as well as rest and recreation in our winegrowing
village. Come with us on a journey through the
year in our charming little winegrowing village!
The year begins. This is an unusual time to visit
Kaltern. Let’s call it the Ice-Skating Season. It’s a
magical time of year! At night, the mists rise and
ice crystals form on the tree branches. If you’re
lucky, in particular cold Januarys you can even go
ice-skating on the lake. What a treat, to go iceskating
while simultaneously enjoying the fairytale
scenery!
The colder time of year is also the perfect opportunity
to visit the South Tyrolean Wine Academy.
When winter draws to a close, the days get longer.
When you come visit Kaltern now, you can enjoy
a rare treat: the Leisure Season. Do what you want,
when you want it! Stroll along the vineyard trails or
wander along the shores of the lake. A time to leaf
through your favorite books and maybe study the
delicious culinary dishes we have to offer.

And early spring is the best time for them to explore
Kaltern: The streets are almost empty of
traffic, and the temperatures just right for cyclists.
It’s Biking Season! One hears tell of cyclists who
can’t wait to start exploring the hilly countryside
of Kaltern and can be found among the vineyards
as early as February, and as late as November.
It’s one thing to boast of a cycling season that puts
the north to shame. It’s another thing to be able
to undertake pleasant strolls through the valley
in March and wander among the sea of blossoms
along the Path of Peace.
And just a few weeks later, the vineyards and apple
orchards are filling with flowers. It’s the Blossom
Season. Sparkling sunshine and a pristine natural
landscape beckon. When you stroll along the Wine
Trail now, you’ll experience a bewildering wealth
of blossoms.

The Wine Hiking Day – organized by wein.kaltern,
a popular event for guests and visitors alike! And
families are especially welcome! In mid-spring –
summer can’t be far off! – the Season of Migratory
Birds slowly tapers off. The biotope at Lake Kaltern
is a stopping place for migratory birds during their
4,000-km-long trek from Africa to the north.
