Ordinary Angels
By: Renee Riendeau / Movie Revelations
Lionsgate Movies, under the direction of
Jon Gunn, reproduced a true story called,
“Ordinary Angels.”
Hilary Swank, (Sharon Stevens) along with
Alan Ritchson (Ed Schmitt) and Nancy
Travis, portrayed these real people to the
heartstring with simple dialogue.
You can’t ignore the value of the film that
finally makes you feel good about the world.
Rotten Tomatoes gave it 83% in scoring but
the audience score was 99%.
There’s a surprise in this “tear jerker”
that keeps the focus on Hilary and not about
proselytizing religion. The director doesn’t
beat the audience with swelling music or
manipulative weepy scenes.
Swank elevates the film from your ordinary faith based movie and Alan
proves he can play beyond the tough guy. Hilary and Alan are fantastic
together in this film.
When something works; it works. This is a “tear jerker” with solid
performances.
A tight script, good messages and polished direction. Ordinary Angels
is both inspiring and emotional and trusts its audience enough to know
that God’s teachings are spread through the actions of people and not
beat into you by incessant heavy-handed messaging.
Cinema brings light to a beautiful true story; ordinary people doing
extraordinary things and does it justice. Is
it a miracle? You decide.
It’s about ordinary folks responding
to others in need with extraordinary
compassion and resourcefulness. A
miracle any way you slice it.
In its celebration of community support
for a young girl’s liver transplant medical
expenses, Ordinary Angels is basically Go
Fund Me: The Movie. The theme of the
film - importance of the healing power of
kindness and how one person can make a
difference, may tug at your heart.
It cost nothing to be kind. This is certainly a story worthy of being told
and seen. It’s incredible!
I rate this true story movie, Ordinary Angels a big 5!
