offers you 10 banks of 10 toe studs and the Rocktron offers you 12
banks of 15 toe switches. Try finding that in a toe stud bolster! Even
though the Rocktron switches don’t look like toe studs, they perform
well. Again, the secret is in the mounting. To see how I mounted it go
Beware: Some toe controllers, like MidiBuddy, only allow you to program all
of the toe studs to a single channel, set by tiny dip switches. This would limit
you to all Generals, all Pedal pistons, all couplers, etc. In contrast, the Midi
Raider allows each toe switch to be programmed to any channel, which can be
easily changed.
How a fellow Hauptwerkian, John Bennett, incorporated toe studs (and touchscreens):
“Purchased everything (except materials for the boards and wiring) from Classic Midi Works. I
really looked around quite a bit and their prices on the studs was the most reasonable. They are
Klann studs and much cheaper than you can get them from Klann. The interface board also
comes from Classic. I first did the layout in CAD. As I actually did the placement on the boards I
had to make some changes which I have yet to apply to the CAD drawing itself. I can provide
more details and an updated drawing if you want. It just might take me awhile to get it done.
The daughter board plugs directly into Classic's main board inside the
clavier.
Have not used them much yet, but have no complaints. The LH side are generals 1-8. The RH
side bottom are pedal 1-4 (I have 1-8 mapped on the Solo manual) and the top three I have not
quite decided yet. Will probably label them ancillary and program them as needed. Right now I
am considering making the one closest to the expression pedal a stepper, the second
programmable, and third Sfz.”
