Terrorist Bombings<br />

This course is directed at providing awareness<br />

level training for first responders to<br />

enable them to recognize, avoid, isolate,<br />

event of a terrorism incident involving<br />

energetic materials. The course is comprised<br />

of a power point presentation<br />

embedded with videos designed to familiarize<br />

participants with commercial and<br />

military explosives, improvised explosive<br />

devices, and appropriate response procedures<br />

What is ET Online?<br />

These courses in Homeland Security, environmental<br />

technology and hazardous<br />

materials consist of an online text, interactive<br />

exercises, self-grading quizzes, final<br />

exam and as needed, hands-on training.<br />

ET Online is offered through members of<br />

the <strong>Community</strong> and <strong>College</strong> Consortium<br />

for Health and Safety Training around the<br />

nation and is different from<br />

“Education2Go.” The curriculum is<br />

authored and sponsored by the Hazardous<br />

Materials Training and Research Institute<br />

in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. ET Online is sponsored<br />

in part by the Fund for the<br />

Improvement of Postsecondary Education<br />

and the U. S. Department of Education.<br />

What can you expect as a new<br />

student?<br />

To participate, you must have Windows<br />

98, Windows ME or Windows XP and have<br />

Internet access (high speed connection is<br />

preferable). To get a feel for the material,<br />

prospective students may “test-drive” part<br />

of one of the classes at www.et-online.org<br />

and follow the “Sample Courses” route to<br />

any one of the sample courses listed.<br />

When you realize how easy this is, call<br />

the WCCC Registration Center at<br />

1-800-262-2103 extension 4204 and<br />

give the course code listed for the<br />

desired course. You will then be sent an<br />

alphanumeric ID and then you’re ready to<br />

begin. After the course is completed you<br />

will receive a certificate. You may start<br />

an online course anytime after<br />

September 24 but you must complete<br />

it by December 31, 2007. The following<br />
