An extremely scarce and desirable toy depicting
two comic characters, Alphonse &
Gaston, politely nodding to each other as
the car is pulled along. The toy is 8” long,
in truly Excellent Condition and all original.

Kenton Happy Hooligan Police Patrol
Kenton, Ohio – Circa 1905
A scarce, graphic and highly desirable comic
character toy made by Kenton Hardware, circa
1905. It depicts Happy Hooligan being billy
clubbed by the local constable. The policeman’s arm
is articulated to make the movement. The vehicles
driver is Gloomy Gus, another comic strip character
of the day. This example is in amazing, all original,
condition and perhaps the fi nest known example.

best known examples

Kenton, Ohio – Circa 1905
An extremely rare toy made by Kenton Hardware,
circa 1905. This toy is based upon a life size sightseeing
vehicle popular in cities at the beginning of
the 20th century. It is rare to fi nd this toy in such
excellent condition with all its original fi gures.
The passengers include: Gloomy Gus, The Sailor,
Mama Katzenjammer, Papa Katzenjammer and
Happy Hooligan, all comic characters of that era.
