Lot 253 Football Bank Made by John Harper Company Willenhall, England – Circa 1895 More commonly referred to as the “English Football” bank, this is one of the best sporting themed banks ever created. It depicts a soccer player kicking a penalty goal. The bank works only with old British copper pennies. Harper marketed this bank to a wide audience with a player who was wearing their favorite team colors. Material: Cast Iron Condition: Excellent Estimate: $4,500 - $6,500 Lot 254 Frog Bank (Two Frogs) Made by the J. & E. Stevens Company Cromwell, Connecticut – Circa 1882 Place a coin on the tummy of the small frog; press the lever and it’s kicked into the big frog’s mouth. Lot 255 Humpty Dumpty Bank Manufactured by Shepard Hardware Company Buffalo, New York – Circa 1888 Based on the classic coin-swallowing patent, the “Humpty Dumpty” bank is perhaps the most sensitively rendered version using this action. The vibrant patriotic colors, coupled with his exquisitely ruffl ed collar and his amusing face decoration powerfully adds to the charm and appeal of this bank. Material: Cast Iron Provenance: Oliver Clark Collection Condition: Pristine Plus Estimate: $7,000 - $9,000 Lot 256 Wheel of Fortune Bank An extremely rare and desirable bank. Made in the United States and dated November 14, 1882. There are only a handful of examples known to exist. This one is without chips or cracks and retains its original coin trap. The other known examples are not dated (to our knowledge) and do not have coin traps.
