Legal provisions for foreign architects<br />
For practising in Spain, it is compulsory to register with the College of architects corresponding to the<br />
place of commission, subject of the competition.<br />
To register with the College, a spanish diploma of architecture is required, otherwise a foreign validated<br />
or a spanish government recognized diploma.<br />
Foreign diploma approval must be delivered by the ministry of Education and Culture (Ministerio de<br />
Educacion y Cultura). Subdireccion de Titulos, Paseo del Prado, 28. Madrid).<br />
For nationals of the European Union in possession of a diploma in accordance with EU Directive<br />
85/384/EEC, it must be recognized with a certificate issued by the ministry of Education and Culture<br />
(same address).<br />
For architects belonging to countries integrating the European economic space, the recognition of the<br />
diplomas and other formalities compulsory to their professional activity in Spain must submit to the EU<br />
directive 85/384/EEC.<br />
Architects possessing a diploma not recognized or not approved by spanish authorities may set up<br />
temporary cooperations with colleagues graduated and established in Spain, in accordance with<br />
authorized conditions.<br />
