10 Methodological Issues <strong>in</strong> Model-Based Test<strong>in</strong>g 291<br />

The fundamental concern of model-based test<strong>in</strong>g seems to be whether or<br />

not it is more cost-effective than other approaches—traditional test<strong>in</strong>g, reviews,<br />

<strong>in</strong>spections, and also constructive approaches to quality assurance. While first<br />

evaluations of model-based test<strong>in</strong>g are available [PPW + 05], there clearly is a<br />

need for studies that exam<strong>in</strong>e the economics of model-based test<strong>in</strong>g.
