Newly synthesised ApoB is loaded with lipid by MTP <strong>in</strong> the rough ER, yield<strong>in</strong>g<br />

a VLDL precursor. Upon translocation <strong>of</strong> the precursor to the ER lumen MTP<br />

mediated lipidation cont<strong>in</strong>ues, with the lipid droplets provid<strong>in</strong>g the major<br />

source <strong>of</strong> triglycerides and cholesterol. With<strong>in</strong> an <strong>in</strong>fected liver, these ER<br />

membranes are also the site <strong>of</strong> HCV RNA replication and it is believed particle<br />

assembly occurs <strong>in</strong> parallel with VLDL, allow<strong>in</strong>g virions to become<br />
