1069 Pairpoint Mt Washington Royal Flemish biscuit jar<br />

Circa 1900, the lid with Pairpoint hallmark and further marked ''4400'', the circular<br />

gadrooned lid above a scalloped and floral band with handle, over a stout body<br />

decorated with berried thorn branches and strapwork-decorated medallions, 7'' H x<br />

5.5'' Dia., est:$800/1200. Note: The Mt. Washington Glass Company was founded in<br />

Boston in 1837. In 1870 the firm was moved to New Bedford, MA and a few years later<br />

entirely reorganized by new general manager Frederick S. Shirley. Shirley introduced<br />

new, patented styles of glass and lines such as Burmese, Peachblow and Royal Flemish.<br />

In 1880, the Pairpoint Manufacturing Company established a factory neighboring the<br />

Mt. Washington works. The two companies merged in 1894 and in 1900 again<br />

reorganized to become the Pairpoint Company. The piece offered here is of the style of<br />

the Royal Flemish line from the Mt. Washington Glass Company and bears the<br />

Pairpoint hallmark exemplifying the amalgamation of the two firms<br />

Condition: Good overall condition. Metal mounts rubbed and darkened - with a pewter<br />

tone. General light marks, scratches and rubbing to surface commensurate with age<br />

and use. Slight dirt accumulation overall - would benefit from light cleaning. Possibly<br />

with overpainted to raised gilt areas - gilding to berries rubbed, revealing amber, green<br />

and opalescent colors underneath.<br />

1070 Pairpoint copper patinated table lamp<br />

Marked with logo and further ''Pairpoint / D3054 / Made in U.S.A.'', with butterscotch<br />

linen fold ''fabric'' glass shade above a three socket stem over a tapering fluted base,<br />

electrified, 22.5'' H x 14'' Dia., est:$800/1200<br />

Condition: Shade evidently not marked. Good overall condition. General marks,<br />

scratches and rubbing commensurate with age and use. Some minor scattered chipped<br />

losses and marks to shade. Some rubbing to surface patina of base, with some dirt<br />

accumulation overall. Wiring should be checked by a qualified electrician prior to use.<br />

1071 Arts & Crafts chipped glass & brass mushroom lamp<br />

First quarter 20th century, shade and base marked ''Patented April 20 1913'', the<br />

mushroom-form shade decorated in black and white with a wooded winter landscape,<br />

on a circular molded double-handled brass base, electrified, 12'' H x 10.5'' Dia.,<br />

est:$700/900<br />

Condition: Possibly Pairpoint. Generally good condition overall. With light marks and<br />

scratches to surface commensurate with age. With a grey/brown patina to base. Minor<br />

typical chipped losses to lower edge of shade, not visible when on base. Some minor<br />

rubbing and denting to base in areas. Wiring should be checked by a qualified<br />

electrician prior to use.<br />

1072 An Arts & Crafts leaded glass hanging lamp<br />

20th century, marked ''Somers Stained Glass, 77 Long Island, NY'', of mushroom form,<br />

with scalloped mottled ivory slag glass panels interspersed with black swags, with a<br />

border of roses and poppies interspersed with scrolls, with an asymmetrical rim, four<br />

sockets, electrified, 15'' H x 28'' Dia., est:$1500/2000<br />

Condition: The chain: 32.5''. Good overall condition. General marks and scratches<br />

commensurate with age and use. With some scattered breaks and fine cracks to glass<br />

panels and some warping and repair to leading. Dirt accumulation in crevices around<br />

floral border. Socket section possibly replaced. Wiring should be checked by a qualified<br />

electrician prior to use.<br />

1073 An Arts & Crafts leaded glass pink floral lamp<br />

Indistinctly marked ''...ove (?) / Lamps'' over a shield, the domed shade decorated with<br />

pink flowering branches above a double socket base with foliate-cast tapering stem<br />

over a similarly cast circular foot, electrified, 23.5'' H x 17.5'' Dia., est:$1500/2000<br />

Condition: Generally good condition overall. With typical marks, scratches and minor<br />

spotting to surface overall. Shade in good condition, with some typical dirt<br />

accumulation and a few very minor cracks to glass panels. Base with some oxidation<br />

and rubbing to surface patina. Ventilator cap possibly a replacement. Wiring should be<br />

checked by a qualified electrician prior to use.
