cornice with spindle-carved galleries above a central door depicting a village
celebration, enclosing a pair of shelves, flanked by two further doors over recessed
shelves and drawers, above a breakfronted base with central recess over a drawer and
door, flanked by a further pair of paneled and pierced doors enclosing shelves, on bun
feet, 103'' H x 74'' W x 26'' D, est:$2000/3000. Provenance: Property from a Private
Collection, Rancho Palos Verdes
Condition: In two sections. Structurally sound. Generally good overall condition. Nicely
carved. General marks, nicks and scratches commensurate with age and use. With
typical fading to timber in areas particularly to top edge of base. Some minor nicked
losses to timber overall. With some losses and replacements to carved elements such as
acorn finials to cornice gallery. Cracking to crest. One key.
1166 Pair monumental Baroque style iron torcheres
First half 20th century, each with spiral twist stem surmounted by foliate-scroll
candlearms over a pierced foliate-scroll base, electrified, 2 pcs, 77'' H x 25'' Dia.,

Condition: Good condition overall. General marks, scratches and minor rubbing to
surface overall. Some minor bending to foliate elements. Wiring should be checked by a
qualified electrician prior to use.
1167 A Louis XVI style mahogany bergere de bureau
20th century, the arched fluted crestrail and downswept sides with laurel and
bellflower garlands over a double caned back and sides above an oval padded seat over

Condition: Height of seat: 17'', width of seat: 19.5'', depth of seat: 17.5''. Good condition
overall. Mounts nicely cast. Caning with a 4'' break to right side with some slight loss of
color in areas. General light marks and scratches. Upholstery in good condition. Some
tacking nails lifting and loose.
1168 A pair of Louis XVI style mounted petit commodes
Late 19th century, each with a rounded rectangular inset Breccia Medicis marble top
above a frieze drawer over a parquetry medallion paneled door enclosing a grey-veined
white marble interior, on turned tapering legs, 2 pcs, 28'' H x 18'' W x 17.5'' D,

Condition: Generally good overall condition. Nicely made. Finished to the reverse.
General light marks, nicks and scratches commensurate with age and use. Mounts
somewhat roughly cast. With some fading to timber at front corners and more notably
to one on right side. Same with scratches to back of right side. With minor chipped
losses and decently matched minor repairs to marbles.

Late 19th century, the raised kidney-shaped top centered by an oval porcelain
medallion depicting a bluebird amidst flowers, over a conforming frieze, on sphinxheaded
downswept legs joined by a conforming undertier, 32.25'' H x 20'' W x 14'' D,

Condition: Structurally sound. General marks, nicks, scratches, fading and dryness to
timber overall. Mounts roughly-cast. Porcelain plaque nicely painted. With some
lifting, losses, patched repair and overpainted restoration to timber - most notably a 2''
x 1'' section of pollard elm veneer off of left side of top. Some light dirt accumulation
overall.
